“Are you crazy Adrian? You just accepted a stranger as your sister just because someone told you so and that too without demanding any solid evidence?” Amelia came to an abrupt halt in front of her brother’s room hearing those words. A shiver went through her body. She held her breath in anticipation of her brother’s reply.

“You have seen her and yet you have these doubts? I told you they had enough evidence with them when I found her. The dress she wore that day, the things which Mom kept in her little bag along with the letter she wrote to Pat asking him, no begging him to keep her children away from danger.”

“You are talking like an ordinary emotional person Adrian. Just think about it, anyone can fabricate these evidences and about her looking like Meredith, a good plastic surgeon can do the trick.” Amelia fisted her hands and stood there listening to the horrible theories someone was sprouting to Adrian.

“I agree that there is some point to your doubts but Uncle, she is my Amelia and I know it and there are more to it than what you have just said. Whatever happened that night had shook her up very badly and she is struggling with those memories even now. You haven’t seen her struggling or screaming whenever she tries to sleep and she calls for me to protect her. I don’t want any evidence. I just know that she is my sister and I am not going to let anyone or anything to come in between us.” The anger and determination in Adrian’s voice were obvious and it touched Amelia’s heart. Those words melted away her anger and her fear when she heard their conversation.

It was not an easy transition for her but that stage was over and she and her brother had developed a very strong bond between them. He took care of her as a father and as a big brother, making her the priority in his life. More than once she had heard him telling people that she came first in his life and he always took decisions keeping her interest in his mind. What more could a person ask for?

“I am not forcing you to do anything nor am I asking you to doubt her but I want you to be careful.”

“I am careful Uncle Cade and I know that I am taking the right decision here. As you know, I am not someone who is easily fooled and I am also sure that once you get to know her better, all your doubts will be erased. But I am warning you in advance. You knew Mom well and Amelia has all her qualities in her and more. Please don't provoke her or she will raise hell. She won't tolerate someone trying to doubt her or those whom she loves. Just be a little careful while dealing with her when you have so many doubts in your mind.”

“Okay. Duly noted. Now back to business, when are you going to take more responsibilities in the company Adrian? Your grandfather is worried about you.”

“I am still very young to take on such a huge responsibility on my shoulders. Leon is doing a wonderful job as the head of our business and I still think I have a lot to learn from him. I have told Grandfather again and again that when Leon retires after five or six years from now, I will take charge. Isn't that the logical thing to do?”

“I agree. It’s your company and it’s your decision that matters. Your Grandfather is getting old and no one can blame him for forcing you to take the helm and settle down. It’s what every parent or grandparent expects.”

“I know and I am willing to do that but in my time. All these years I was living in hell trying to find Amelia and now that I have found her, I want to get to know her better. I want to spend some time with my sister and I want to see her settling down first.”

“About that, I have heard rumors about her and Ruben and also some articles linked her with Erik Winters. What’s going on here?”

“She and Erik saw each other for a while and they are in some sort of argument right now. Ruben is trying to cause some mischief and there is nothing serious going on in between them. Both like each other’s company and she has agreed to accompany him to parties and any such events. That’s all.”
