Present time......... "We need to move out luggage into town, to the bus station" said Harry. "Are we taking the bus?" May asked. Harry explained that they weren't, they were in fact going to call a taxi to pick them up, and take them to the airport, as it would have looked too suspicious to have asked to be picked up from a cemetery with suitcases, whereas from a bus station it would appear quite normal. He said " We will call a taxi from there and George can pay the driver with his card. Once there we will find a quiet spot to hang around in until 5 30 in the morning when we can collect our tickets and board our plane".
George was looking troubled and asked Harry why they were actually going to Iceland. "What is there and why the urgency. Are we being pursued or something?" Harry assured George that nobody was chasing them. "However time is short and also it is important that I complete what I must do soon because eventually someone is going to ask questions and possibly set wheels into motion, though hopefully not for a long time yet. By which time I will have fulfilled my destiny and you two can return home and resume your normal lives".
A sudden fear gripped me "Aren't you coming back with us?" Harry looked at May and he could see pain in her eyes, and strangely he could feel it also. "No May it will be just the two of you coming back" I couldn't help myself and burst into a flood of tears and hugged Harry, tightly clinging to him. Harry held me tight. He was experiencing emotions that he had never felt before. Painful human emotions. No sooner than May had released her hold on him than George also was tearfully hugging him. "We will never see you again will we" He said in a choked voice. "No you won't" Harry said, "and that will be my loss too because I love you both!"
The three of them accordingly wheeled their luggage to the small bus station, which turned out to be a half mile or so away as Harry had suggested. Arriving with aching arms and shoulders and feeling very tired and thirsty they clustered their cases together near to the doorway. Leaving George to go and ring a cab to take them to Stanstead Airport from one of the many taxi-cab cards lying around. He and May went and got some drinks for them all from the Klix machine by the back wall.
Eventually their taxi arrived and a very helpful young man stowed their cases in the boot for them and they set off for the airport. "So" said their young driver what time is your flight?" George told him they had to pick up their tickets at 5 30 am. "You are going to have an awful lot of hours to kill before your flight" Mind you maybe that is a good thing as apparently earlier there was some kind of security alert on and everybody was being searched, and so it was slowing things down a lot there. "My advice to you is to get on your queue as early as is possible" Harry whispered to May to text George, to tell the driver to drop us off outside the main approach as a friend is picking us up there and putting us up for a few hrs. They heard Georges phone bleep. "Nearly there" said the driver. George spotted a sign with the legend Short stay carpark Printed in big blue letters on it. "Could you pull over here by that sign please mate, a friend who lives close by is picking us up and we will kill some time with him before we go inside".
Once the taxi had left George asked Harry why the change of plans and why were they still outside of the airport. With a grim look on his face Harry explained that the security buzz could only be because they were expecting them. "Oh" said a dismayed George, and he went on to ask what their plan B was. With a rueful look Harry said " That's easy, there isn't one. Lets just be thankful we are so early and that the driver unwittingly tipped us off. We need to put our thinking caps on now. May, you go with George and book us into that overnight stay hotel over there and get the cheapest large room possible for the three of us. It will look more plausible to look like we are penny pinching students or something. I will join you both in a couple of hours and in the meantime you can get us settled into a room. May you lend me your mobile please and I can keep you posted".
