Let's talk about influence.

Influence is a really defining factor in my life, mainly connected with inspiration. I find myself watching baking shows and wanting to cook, reading books and wanting to write etc. In fact, I made this blog because I read @iknowwrite's fictional blog and wanted to write one of my own. Because the truth is, I'm never happy with what I'm doing. I watch all of these awesome people online, and regret the fact that I can't  travel all the time.

But I don't hate the fact that I'm never happy. It's one of the qualities that I'm most proud of, because it helps me to get off my ass and actually do something. It helps me create memories that I'm going to look back on when I'm older and be proud of.

Regret is one of my biggest worries. I reasonably often will find myself unable to sleep because I'm not happy with how I spent my day. I'm constantly afraid that when I'm older I'm going to realise that I wasted my childhood, and I screwed up my one shot at life.

The main reason I'm afraid of this is because I have nothing to do. I've never been the person who opens their phone to see party invitations and people asking to hang out. But I'm fine with that honestly, because it helped me boost another one of my favourite qualities: my inability to wait for things to happen. I'm always the person who's suggesting meetups, organising parties and madly texting my friends to come over and see my kittens. Because the fact is, I've grown to accept that the only way that anything's going to happen is if I do it myself.

So let me spin this around and force you to face reality. What are you doing while you're reading this? Are you waiting in a bus shelter for a friend? On a train home? Browsing Wattpad at 2 a.m? Waiting for your cake to come out of the oven? Procrastinating studying? Whatever you're doing, I want you to make sure that you're not wasting your life. If people aren't asking you to do something, be the one who suggests. And if no-one's free, you have yourself. Doing things on your own is fine.

If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.

Weekly obsession: Doughnut Time is opening a new store nearish to my house and I'm going up there tomorrow to get a free doughnut. Their doughnuts are so good but really expensive, so I don't normally get them.

Song of the week: I Choose You - Sara Bareilles. I love Sara Bareilles voice, and this is such a mood-boosting song. The drums and claps add an upbeat vibe, but the singing is quite serene and slow. I love the chorus and the beat.

Enjoy,

Callie ;)
