"Charlie? I need to ask you something." I said, walking down the stairs and to the living room.

"Yes?" He asked.

"Can I please go to Jacob's house? I need to ask him something. It's important." I said. Most likely he wouldn't let me go. Then, on the other hand, my dream could be telling the future.

"I don't know, Lillian. Every time you go some place with him you always end up staying. I don't know what you do and I don't think I want to know what you do, but I don't trust you anymore." He said sternly.

"Please, Charlie. It's really, really important." I begged.

He sighed and rubbed his temple. "Lillian, I am sorry, but no."

"You don't understand!" I dropped my head back in frustration. "I promise I'll come back before sunset. I promise."

"I already told you my answer." He said blankly and continued watching the tv.

"Fine."

I marched to the front door and turned the knob. I glance over my shoulder and said, "I'm sorry for doing this," and walked out.

I heard Charlie yell, "Lillian Moore! You get back here, right now!"

Sometimes in life, you had to take risks. If you didn't take any, was life worth living? That was a risk I needed to take. I needed to know the real reason my mom sent me there other than for Sam. I needed to know the real reason my father was out to get me.

I arrived at Jacob's house, the garage door wasn't opened. So I walked up the ramp to the front door and knocked.

"Jacob isn't here, sorry." Is all he said and shut the door.

"Wait! Where is he?" I asked, but it was too late. I groaned and walked down the ramp and to the garage. One of Jacob's motorcycles sat in front of the garage. It was tempting to just ignore it. "I can't believe I'm doing this." I grabbed the black helmet and secured it on my head. I sat on the bike. Brake, clutch, gas. I repeated what Jacob had once shown me, and flipped the red switch. The engine rumbled. I kicked the kickstand up and started moving.

I felt wild, utterly reckless. There wasn't anything on my mind except that I was going to get the answers I needed. I zoomed into the forest and raced my way to Sam's house. Once I arrived, the house seemed deserted. It was completely empty, like a ghost town.

I got off the bike and laid the helmet on the seat. I walked to the glass door and swung it open. I walked in and saw Emily sitting at the table looking at papers. "Where's Sam?" I asked her.

"He went on patrol. He should be back any minute now." She said. As if on cue, Embry, Quil, Jared, Paul, Jacob and Sam walked in.

"Hi, crazy wolf girl." Embry smiled.

I smiled back with a small wave. The boys walked to the living room, except Sam and Jacob. Sam went to Emily and Jacob went to me.

"Are you okay?" He asked in a low voice.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I kind of stole your bike." I said.

"It's okay. Did Charlie let you come?" He asked.

I shook my head. "I ran off. I need to talk to Sam."

He nodded and joined the rest of the boys. I faced Sam. He was giving Emily small kisses all over her scar as if to apologize for what he had done.

"Sam?" I asked. He looked at me. His expression slowly showed concern. "I know you're my half-brother." I blurted out. "My---I mean---our mom told me. She also said something about you protecting me." I informed him.

He nodded and stood up straight. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. Mom told me not to." He said.

"It's okay. I'm just wondering if you know why my dad is out to get me."

"Your parents got a divorce because your mom found out he was a vampire." He said.

My jaw dropped in confusion. "Wh-what? How? Why?" I choked on my words. I saw Jacob look at me from his conversation with the guys. "Then why? How are you?" I panicked. Jacob walked over to me cautiously.

"Are you alright, Lilly?" He asked.

"Don't," I said.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

I stuttered. "I just need a moment to think." Without another thought, I left the house and stumbled into the woods. Nausea bubbled in my stomach.
