The sun was still up, faintly, but making its way to disappearance into the ocean. We were driving right next to the sunset, racing the water, and your music was playing. It was the kind that made you feel calm, and I sat there gazing out of the window.
"Beautiful, huh?"
You took one hand off the steering wheel and gestured to the sky.
"Very."
I looked to you and then back over out the window and smiled.
We needed a get away, and that's exactly what we got. The world was too much to handle at the moment and all we needed was each other. The breeze from the warm air on my face was calming, i loved it. You seemed okay, i was okay, and everything was good.
"Where to next?"
Looking over to me, giving me a determined look.
"How about there!"
I excitingly pointed out towards the beach that we were driving along.
We pulled into a parking space and I jumped out of the car. I slipped my shoes off and ran towards the sand, you following behind. Noticing that you were behind me, i yelled
"Come on!"
then i grabbed your hand and dragged you with me. We were both slipping and sliding everywhere, laughing. The sand was so soft and warm from the sun's love earlier that day, and the sky still lit beautiful, soothing colors. We began to dance around and in that moment, it's like everything stopped and slowed down. I stared into your eyes and at your smile, oh how it was heart racing, and yes, it sent a shiver throughout my whole body. I wanted you to be happy and only happy, it's what you did for me. Being together made me feel safe and loved, i felt wanted and the way you held my hand gave me a sense of security like no other.

When time, what had seemed to be, resumed, we slowed down a bit and stopped spinning around.
"Woah,"
I said giggling,
"alright."
You slowly took a seat in the sand, gazing out into the water as you pulled me down to sit next to you.
"Don't you wonder what it'd be like, to leave and never look back, just the both of us?"
I looked up at you, taking in what you had just said. Laying back into the sand, i put my arms over my head and began,
"Yeah, i do. A lot actually."
I knew that i could survive, just you and i. You're all i have ever needed in this world, being together and doing our own thing sounded like the best thing possible. Especially how messed up this town was, i would be ready to go without a question to ask.
The sun had disappeared, i had hardly even noticed. The whole time, we sat in silence, only our breaths and the waves of the ocean to be heard. You looked at me, then i look at you, and you pulled my hand over your stomach, intertwined with your fingers, as i laid my head against your shoulder. Soon, our eyes were shut and the ocean waves sent us off into a light sleep.
