As soon as I got out of my psychology class, the last class I had for the day, I rushed to my car. My best friend, Calum, was forcing me to go to a party with him that night. I wasn't really a big partier, and I wasn't really the kind that got invited to parties. Mainly because I didn't have many friends and I was extremely awkward in social situations.

"Where you off to, V?" A voice said from behind me as I was digging through my bag for my keys.
"Home. Why's it matter to you?" I said turning around to face them. It was my ex best friend, Heather, being her nosy self as normal.
"Well, I heard Calum's having a party and I figured you'd be invited since your his girl." She put emphasis on the words 'his girl.'
"I'm not 'his girl.' We're friends. That's all."
She rolled her eyes and began walking away. "Whatever you say, Violet. See you at the party.
I mocked her as I got into my car and dug through my bag again, this time for cigarettes. When I pulled out the pack, it had two left.

  'Shit.' I thought to myself.

I lit one of them and drove off towards my apartment. I'd just have to buy another pack later on.

..

"I'm home." I said as I entered my apartment. There were clothes scattered all over the living room, most likely from Jacob, my brother.
Jacob was 16, but he lived with me because I wouldn't allow him to live with our dad anymore. Our dad didn't care what Jacob or me did with our lives or where we lived.

"Jacob?" I knocked on his bedroom door softly.

"What?" He said opening the door after a minute.

"Clean up a little while I'm gone tonight please? The mess in the living room is mainly your clothing and trash. I don't ask much out of you.." I said trailing off as I went to get ready for the night. He nodded and sluggishly picked up his clothing and other junk before laying on the couch.

I gathered my clothes I planned on wearing for the night and my makeup and other beauty products and headed for the bathroom. The shower was disgusting because Jacob needed to clean it so I decided on skipping the shower and proceeded to get my hair and such done.
Once I finished french braiding my hair and putting on a tad bit of makeup, I got dressed in a pair of ripped skinny jeans and a crop top.
It wasn't going to be a fancy party, it was just Cal's party. Nobody was going to be dressed up too much anyways.

I grabbed my keys and headed into the kitchen, grabbing a Redbull from the fridge and making sure I grabbed my wallet so I could stop at a gas station and buy cigarettes on my way to Calum's house.
"Hey Cal, I gotta stop and, uh, get gas on my way over so I may be a little late." I said as I hung up the phone. I hated lying to Cal, but he didn't like it when I smoked. I had promised him I would try and stop but that's easier said than done.
