“Get up.” WHAM a pillow was smacked onto my face.

“Uhm…ow!” I blinked my eyes open.

Gabe was standing over me, no amusement on his face whatsoever.

“What’s your deal?” I asked sleepily.

“I said be ready by 7:30”

“Oh. Right.  What time is it now?”

“7:25 and you’re still asleep.”

The room got suddenly colder.  “Why don’t you chill out, cousin?”

Vance came in then.  “She’s got five more minutes.”

I smiled a little.  “Yeah, I’ve got five more minutes.”

Vance came up and put his hand on Gabe’s shoulder.  Steam rose immediately.  Gabe shrugged his hand off.

I got out of bed not looking at either of them and went into the bathroom.

Talk about world war three.  Those two were…well, like fire and ice.

Ha..ha ha ha. I’m so punny.

Anyways, I brushed my teeth, washed my face and then went into the closet and got some athletic shorts and a plain t-shirt.

I went over to the vanity table and brushed my hair out quickly, and grabbed a hair tie.

I came out of the closet braiding my hair into a single side braid.

I looked at the clock.

“7:30 on the dot!” I raised my arms up in victory and smiled at Gabe.

His face was stone cold.

Vance on the other hand smiled and started clapping.

Gabe stormed out of the room.

“Let’s go.  We’ve got a lot of training to do.”

I looked at Vance, and he held his hands out for me to go in front of him.

I followed Gabe as best as I could, albeit he strode with long paces.

He led us outside, and immediately the heat hit me.  I could feel sweat collecting on my skin almost instantly.

We walked on for what seemed like forever in silence.  I didn’t want to complain because that makes me seem even weaker then I already am.

Finally I could see targets in a field up ahead.

When we got close, Gabe turned around.

The sun reflected off his blonde hair and created somewhat of a halo around him.

Alright, stand in front of one of the targets.

I looked at Vance to see he was looking at me.

I looked away suddenly, watching as Gabe went and got a bow and arrow from one of the barrels near the target. There was a barrel beside each target, filled with at least three bow and arrows.

He came back and told me to move.

I scoffed but stepped away nonetheless.

He stood there, and pulled the arrow back.  Time froze, and he was a statue of sunlight against the meadow background.

All too soon, he moved and let the arrow go.  It flew across the meadow and with a smack, hit the center of the bullseye without hesitation.

He smirked, obviously proud of himself.
