"Klaus... what the hell is he doing back here?" Stefan and Damon stares incredulously at Caroline. "And how the hell did he end up getting invited into Elenas house?"

"Elena must have invited him in," Caroline shrugs. "I found his jacket on the couch. It reeks of him."

"Well, you would know what he smells like," Damon says earning a glare from Caroline.

"What are we going to do about this?" Stefan asks.

"What is there to do? We kidnap her and bring her here. Then we talk her out of this compulsion." Damon pours everybody a glass of scotch and downs his own glass in one gulp. "It's not going to be easy but it's the only way unless we want Elena to end up dead."

Caroline nods in agreement, "Klaus is a monster," she confirms, "he doesn't care about anybody but himself. Which is why if we don't do this soon, she will be a doppelgänger sacrifice in one of his sick rituals."

The three looks at each other in agreement before downing their own glasses.

-- Elena --

After Caroline leaves, Elena breaths out a big sigh of relief. She takes Klaus' jacket and walks upstairs to her room. She place her hand on the door knob and was about to turn when her bedroom door opens and she was pressed against the soft bed.

"I thought she would never leave" Klaus complains between rough kisses.

Elena laughs and for a moment, she was so wrapped up in klaus' rough kisses and the way he would rub his erection against her that she completely forgets why she came upstairs and the lecture she was going to give him.

"Wait. S-stop," Elena pushes klaus away and for a second, she could see a flash of worry in his eyes.

"What's wrong, love?"

"How could you be so careless?" Elena shouts, throwing his jacket in his face. Klaus catches the jacket, though, with his vampire capabilities. "Do you want me to be caught?"

Klaus chuckled at the younger vampires rage. "You don't want to be seen with me, love?"

"You know what everybody would think" Elena said, "I'm supposed to hate you!"

Klaus steps closed and wraps Elena up in his arms. He kisses her on the mouth and then spins her around so that her back is pressed against his chest. Klaus places multiple soft barely there kisses along her neck. "But you don't hate me, do you love?"

Elena closes her eyes, once again getting lost in the moment. But then she remembers what she was saying and once again pushes him away. "What kind of game are you playing Klaus?" She asks. She could see klaus' face fall at the question and she immediately regrets asking.

"Game? You think that this is a game?" Klaus doesnt shout, he could never shout at Elena, at least not intentionally.

"Everything is a game with you," Elena says, "is this a plan to seduce me, make me fall in love with you and then sacrifice me in one of your sick rituals or, better yet, use me to get closer with Caroline?"

Klaus laughed aloud, "Caroline? What kind of man do you think I am? I may have killed thousands of people, love, but I will not stoop that low."

It was elenas turn to laugh now. "Well there's a first time for everything," she said bitterly "and with you and how many centuries you have lived, there must be not that much first times left."

Its this that hits Klaus the hardest. Yes he did have feelings for Caroline. Emphasis on did. He thought Caroline was full of light and she was beautiful. That is before he realized the unexplored feelings he had for the doppelgänger he had been trying to kill. Now, Klaus genuinely has no feelings left for Caroline. Elena had stolen his heart.

"I have told you last night I have no feelings for Caroline but you still chose to believe otherwise. Very well, I see that I can't change your mind," Klaus' tone was full of disappointment and he steps closer to Elena and presses a kiss on her cheek. When he pulls away, Elena has tears streaming down her face. "you can believe whatever you want, love. But I do love you." And with that, Klaus leaves.

What have I just done? Elena thinks to herself. She stands, frozen, as she watches Klaus leave unable to stop the tears from falling. Klaus, on the other hand, as he leaves the Gilbert residence, sheds some tears of his own as well. He sheds tears for one good thing that he had lost.
