dirty paws by of monsters and men

"it's all normal procedure," logan stated.

"you'd tell me if it wasn't?" she asked him. she was lying on a sterling white bed, in a sterling hospital gown, with white fuzzy socks for her cold feet. she'd asked for the last of the three.

"absolutely," he lied. he smiled to reassure her. "ready?"

"absolutely," she nodded to the ceiling. yet another sterling white surface.

he nodded to the man who was the nurse and he pressed the button. her bed began to move into a great tube-like structure.

a ct scan, a foreign piece of technology far ahead of her time.

she closed her eyes and calmed her body. it's normal, it's regular, it's protocol. he has to do it, or he wouldn't be doing it.

before she knew it, she was done.

she was then taken to a thermograph and her body's temperature was taken. the ct scan results were finished soon after she was out and the thermograph results would be in by the end of the week.

logan and xavier looked them over with the nurse in a separate room and she waited quietly.

her physical body showed no structural change from the time in the ice. it looked almost as if it'd never happened. then they got the print of her brian.

her brain waves were off the charts. color beat everywhere. it was as if a fuming person had gotten a hold of paint.

it was beyond abnormal. it was beyond abnormal for mutants. even xavier's brain couldn't compete.

xavier looked at logan.

"we have to quarantine her."

"what? why?" he strung together his thoughts: "what do the results mean? why do we have to quarantine her? isn't it a little drastic?" logan had never been faced with xavier making spur-of-the-moment decisions. he'd never seen xavier so impulsive.

"this isn't normal, even for us, for me..." he thought out what he wanted to say. he was careful now, as if he were approaching a bed of hot coals, "she's a ticking time bomb and i can't let her roam freely. she could shatter someone's psyche. she could break someone."

xavier rolled away with the scan in his lap. the nurse followed him. "i want her on lockdown. downstairs, now. i want guards on her at all times. now!"

the nurse fled to get guards and take her away. logan couldn't butt in between the army of them. from what he could see between heads and shoulders, they were literally dragging her away.

"logan! xavier!" she yelped, squirming and trying all she could to break free. it was a losing battle, how could she of all people break free from trained guards? she couldn't. "let me go!"

she caught a glimpse of logan just as he stopped his fight to get to her.

her expression broke down.

she stopped squirming and let them take her. a heavy metal door closed and the elevator went down to the basement.

she was gone.
