CHAPTER THREE - RAVEN

I looked around the little dorm, trying to find my journal, filled with all my deep dark secrets. Already it was half way through with my writing, and I’ve only been here four days. I reckon I was here the longest out of the six.

Frustration and fear filled my whole body; if I lost this journal all six of our lives would be damned. At last! Here it was, lying underneath my mystery dorm mate’s bed. I picked it up, examined it to be absolutely sure that it was indeed mine. A great deal of relief flowed through my body. I sat down on my comfy bed and stretched, boy, was I bummed out! I was just about to lay myself down for a nap, then the door opened and a young girl around my age walked in.

“Oh, hi, I’m Raven, I’m your roommate.” I tried my best not to sound from the olden days, and tried hard not to make my British accent able to hear. I was pretty sure I nailed it, because this girl didn’t suspect a thing!

“Yo, I’m McKenzie.” She said, sitting down on the bed. She stared at me, and I tried to pretend that I didn’t notice a thing. After a good five minutes she spoke, and the silence was broken.

“A-are you one of us?” she asked, looking at me. I turned slowly and pondered on what she meant. Was she talking about the six? What if she didn’t mean that?

“What do you mean?” I stared right back at her and she lowered down to a whisper.

“You know, are you one of the six?” My eyes widened a bit, I nodded and she nodded too. I leaned back onto the wall, full of relief. She did the same but then eruptively got up.

“I know like-“she took out her hand and counted out her fingers. “Three others, that means that there’s only one left, and I have a good guess on who that is.” I nodded and continued to sit in silence.

“You’re Hades’ right? I can definitely tell.  I swear you have like shadows following you everywhere… I think that’s pretty cool! What are your powers? Or abilities, I mean. Well, I can control water, and talk to sea animals and horses. Weird huh? Oh! And I can make big storms if I’m super angry, but I can make storms when I’m not angry too! You seem really shy… I am too, but not around people that I know. ” She kept babbling on about absolutely odd things.

Gods, will she ever just shut up!?

I lifted my right hand, gave it a quick wave and she silenced.

“Please, will you just stay that way? It’s much easier to think that way. No harsh-ness intended.” Her gaze fell to the floor and she then began to play with her hair, she seemed much more mature when she first came in. I looked down at the floor and wiggled my toes.

“Look, I apologize, but I do really reek at being kind. Yes, I am Hades’, and I’m aware that it’s obvious. I can summon skeleton armies and summon the dead. I can also summon very strong zombies but that would bum me out too much so I don’t plan to do it very often.” I said, waiting for a reply that I was frightened would never come. I lifted my heard to see her doing the same and a little smile formed.

“Don’t worry about it! I usually can’t stop talking, and I tend to speak my mind. Were you planning to tell anybody about the zombies’ part? Because if you weren’t I won’t tell anybody!”She said, I smiled and nodded in appreciation. I yawned and lay down. I opened my mouth to tell her that I was going to sleep but it turns out I didn’t need to. She killed the lights and climbed into her own bed.
