things were normal for about a week. however, josh seemed to notice a sadness in tyler. and there was. he just didn't admit it. he'd only have the same sad look in his eye when he realized he wasn't going to get a reply back.

on the eighth day, when josh came to see tyler, he found him on the forest ground, knees to his chest. josh's heart broke at the sight. he knew that part of this had something to do with him.

tyler looked up, seeing josh. he sighed as he sat down, whispering a small "hi," his voice cracking slightly, hinting that he had been crying.

tyler decided to ask him a few questions.

"can you talk?"

josh shrugged, and then nodded.

"do you talk to anyone?"

he shook his head

"how long have you gone without talking to anyone?"

he thought about it for a while. he finally put up four fingers.

"four weeks?"

no.

"four years?"

he nodded.

tyler's eyes widened. "that takes lot of devotion," he stated, sighing deeply.

josh merely looked at him. this is where he was expected to reply, but alas, nothing. only silence, once again. tyler sighed, used to this.

.•

"you can't tell my parents that i've been coming here." tyler blurted out suddenly, breaking the silence.

josh shot up an eyebrow, giving tyler a look.

he really thought he'd say something to them?

tyler's eyes went wide in realization. "oh, sorry." he said. "i forgot. it's just, they annoy me so much. they always control my life. they constantly fight, they're always so loud. i come here as an escape, you know?  it's silent here. if they knew i came here, they'd just take it out of my life. the only thing that actually makes me feel happy."

josh could only look at tyler with a sympathetic look. he opened his mouth for a second. tyler's eyes showed a small glimpse of hope. it was barely there, but, it was still there.

then josh closed his mouth. he wanted to say something. he really did. he just, couldn't. every time he tried to say something, the words just got caught in his throat, and went right back down again.

josh looked over, and tyler was sniffling. he was crying again. he started letting out small sobs.

"p-please. why won't you speak?"
tyler was trying to talk in between sobs.

"i-i wanna know you, you know me. its not really c-comforting to know that i-i'm talking, and no one's talking back..you may not even be listening for all i know! oh, god! please.."

"j-just say something! i don't even know your n-name! p-please.."

tyler let out another sob, defeated.

josh was heartbroken at the sight. he caused this, and he didn't know how to fix it. so he turned, much to tyler's dismay, and ran.

he ran, and when he couldn't run anymore, he fell to his knees. he let silent tears of disappointment, anger, and sorrow fall down his cheeks.

silent tears.

silent words.

he was silent.

that was it. that was what had caused this. silence. his world was silence, desperately waiting to be filled with noise. a voice. but, alas, he just stayed there silent. surrounded only by the trees around him.

silence was one of those things that had always been comforting to josh. but, he was starting to regret it . he stood up, just looking at the trees around him.

and as he stood, in the trees, he knew he had to try to find a way to fix this. he wasn't exactly sure how he was going to, but he was going to try.

.•

back at his house, josh was thinking. he hoped tyler was ok. his words played over and over in his head.

i don't even know your name.

that's what stayed with him most. he thought about that. and, he felt horrible.

he went back to the trees everyday, comforting tyler as he cried into his chest. and he didn't even know his name.

josh let out a frustrated sigh, letting out his anger on the wall next to him. it made a small hole in the wall, something that he'd surely get in trouble for later.

his eyes trailed to his bed, and on his bed sat a notebook.

that's it. why didn't he think of it earlier? josh mentally cursed himself, grabbing the notebook.

he didn't know if it would help him gain tyler's trust again, but he sure hoped it would work. he wasn't going to talk, no, but he hoped that this would be the next best thing.

he scribbled something on the paper, and put the notebook in his hand, bringing a pen, too. and he ran. he ran back to the trees, eager to patch things back up with tyler.

he got to the trees, only to find that tyler wasn't there.

dammit, josh thought. he messed up.
but he would try again tomorrow.

ello this is bad, but ya know. oh well? idk, i'm bored, so here's this. sorry for any mistakes, i didn't really edit this, and it's 12:30, so i mean i didn't really try to work too hard on editing. k bye.
