"My biggest fear is that eventually you will see me the way I see myself."

~~~
It was a bright Friday morning.
It had been a week since my interview and I was still waiting for a feedback. I was currently surfing through the net for a few online courses and short courses in my locality pertaining to hotel management, anything that could make my resume look better. It was 9:00 in the morning. I hadn't bothered to wake Eva, she was catching up on sleep as she was working a night shift the previous day.
I was doing the laundry and tidying up the house. As I was working I heard a ping of my e-mail, I quickly rushed to check my mail, hoping that it was about the job. And it was. I read the whole mail twice, before leaping around the house squealing like a kid who had been gifted a ton of candy. I burst into Eva's room and jumped on her bed before screaming into her ears. That instantly woke her up. She jolted out of the bed and looked very startled.
"Where? Where is the boogeyman?", she yelled as she tightly gripped onto a dictionary raising it in a defensive manner.
I burst out laughing when I saw her reaction. And she just got more puzzled as to why I was laughing like a mad lady.
"Oh Eva, there is no boogeyman. I was screaming because I am very, very, very happy."
"Jesus. Cassie, you scared me to death. May I know the reason of your happiness?", she asked as she replaced the dictionary on the shelf and climbed onto the bed and settling into her duvet.
"I got the job.", I disclosed with a wide smile.
"No way. Oh my gosh!", now it was her turn to squeal, she pulled me into a tight hug. "I am so happy for you Cassie. When do you sign the contract?"
"They called me to sign it this Monday, and I start working the following week. Ask me my position?", I said excitedly.
"Okay. What position did they offer you?"
"Front. Office. Manager."
This time we both were shrieking like stupid little girls. I was afraid that the neighbors were going to knock on our door and report us for howling like hooligans.
"Cas, I'm so glad you got it. You deserve it.", she said after we cooled down. "When do we go shopping?"
"Not now, I have to meet Grace. I need to thank her. I'll call you when I'm done then, we can go shop, till we drop. You can sleep, sorry for waking you up."
"Ah, don't bother. Have fun!"
I walked out and grabbed my phone. I quickly dialed Grace's number. She picked up on the third ring.
"Grace Maxwell speaking.", I heard her gentle voice on the other side of the phone.
"Hey Grace. Its Cassie. I'm sorry are you busy?"
"Cassie, good to hear your voice. Not at all, dear. What happened?"
"I wanted to meet you. Now."
"Is everything alright?", she asked, concern creeping into her tone.
"Everything is fine Grace. I just wanted talk to you. Are you up for coffee?"
"Sure, my dear. Meet me at the Home Town café down the street. Okay?"
"Yup. See you in 15. Bye."
I quickly got dressed in black shorts and a beige top, paired with sneakers. I tied my hair into a messy bun and put on my sunglasses. I grabbed my bag, said goodbye to Eva and headed out to meet Grace.
