2. bus ride

"Millie, Millie look", sadie nudged my shoulder breaking my trance.

I tilted my head towards sadie and looked to where her hand was pointing, my eyes landed on Finns bush of hair. I looked farther down to his neck where I noticed Noah's head tucked in the crevice, Finns head was laying on top.

"Well aren't they a cute couple", sadie teased.

"Haha very funny", I replied leaning my head back on the head rest, "sadie?"

"Yeah mills?", she replied.

"Are you sad that this is our last summer on the island?", I asked tilting my head towards the window, "our most likely last time seeing each other outside of school?"

"Of course I'm sad, but I'm also glad we won't have to deal with them anymore", she shrugged, "not having to see Caleb's face every day for a whole month every year is a plus."

Caleb and sadie had dated briefly last summer, but it ended when she found out he was sending letters to some girl in New York.

The bus came to a slow stop, looking out the window I saw an endless sea of blue and one boat waiting for us down at the dock.

I twirled my headphones around my phone and tucked it into my pocket. Placing my hand on the headrest in front I pulled myself up sighing, this was gonna be a long summer.

Romeo was the first to step off followed by jack and jaeden, Caleb and Gaten, and finally Finn and Noah.

Sadie walked out into the aisle as I trailed after her, quickly glancing at all the seats to make sure no one left anything behind.

A blue notebook caught my eye, halfway tossed under a seat.

"I'll catch up with you in a second sadie", I waved towards her as she stepped off the bus.

I knelt down on the soft carpet floor and pulled the notebook out. It had a soft light blue cover and a spiral edge.

I ran my fingers along the edge of the spine before opening it to the first page.

I closed the book with a slight laugh, who would've thought that Finn the heartthrob kept a diary.

"Hey Finn", I smiled holding the notebook in the air, "I think you forgot something."

"Where did you find this?", he asked snatching it out of my hand.

"Under the seat of the bus, just be glad that I didn't read it", I replied teasingly, "or maybe I did, you'll never know."

"Why did I ever move houses?", he huffed storming back towards the group of boys.

Sadie and I were the only girls in our group, but that only brought us closer together. The boys are all friends with each other, except for Romeo, no one really likes him since he's a total dick at school.

"What did you do to Finn, he looks really embarrassed?", sadie asked as she walked over to me.

"Oh nothing, I just found his diary that's all", I smirked, "but relax I didn't read it, I'm not that cruel."

"Oh Millie, what would I do without you", sadie laughed, "but I think the boats ready, lets go before they leave without us."

"You know", I laughed as sadie pulled me towards the boat, "it'd probably be more exciting if we let them leave without us."

"Oh shut up Millie it's our last summer, try to enjoy it while you can."

"Finn if you push me one more time"

I gripped the edge of the boat to steady myself from his constant nudges, "I'm not joking Finn I'll push you into that water."

"Anythings better than being on this island with you", he smiled pushing me once again.

"That's it", I chuckled leaning over the water, "since you wanna go in the water so badly, here you go."

I pulled myself back into the boat with a handful of cold sea water, Finns eyes darted from my hands to my eyes.

"Millie it was just a joke-"

I didn't give him the chance to finish before splashing the ice cold water over him.

"You were saying?"

anyway, for anyone's who's noticed this book is inspired by "we were liars", I won't be following the plot line but i just wanted to give credit
