my head feels as if it's gonna explode.

slits of sunlight shine through the grey curtains. i pull myself off the floor and against the edge of my bed. my head pounding louder than my own thoughts.

"sadie?" I wince at the sound of my own voice. grasping my head I make me way to the stairs, "sadie? are you here?"

"y-yeah" she yells from downstairs.

"do you remember anything after the game?" i ask, making my way down the stairs even though it feels like I might collapse.

"kinda, well not really."

i reach the bottom of the stairs, leaning against the wall I drag myself to the sitting room. sadie's red hair peeks out from the corner.

"i remember something about you and finn, and then something with caleb and I, then romeo getting all fussy and leaving the beach. then it's a blur."

I grip the edge of the white wall, wincing from the sunlight sadie comes into full view. her arms drapped over her slim face.

"brunch" i mumble sitting down beside her, "we have brunch down at redgate."

"you've got to be kidding me" she groans rolling over, "what time is it."

"I don't know, we should get ready anyway" sadie pouts, silently pleading not to go, "cmon sades, I'll leave out some water and Advil at the table."

her eyes groggily glare at me as she sits up against the coffee table. her pale hands comb through her hair as she sighs.

"I hate you, just thought you should know."

"I hate you too sadie."

"if I die, bury me in the sea."

"you're not gonna die, we're almost there" i laugh looking over to sadie.

"wanna know a secret?" she asks, her mood rising into a happier tone, "I like caleb."

"if it wasn't obvious enough" I scoff, earning a punch from sadie.

"I'm serious", she laughs, pushing me off the wooden pathway, "it's our last summer here together, might as well make it one to remember."

"I guess" i chuckle.

"i dare you to get with finn over the summer, and I'll get with caleb" sadie taunts, laughing evilly as she leans into my side.

"Sadie sink! I am not going to have-"

"no not that" she wheezes, bending over to catch her breath.

"then what?" i ask, laughing along with her.

"i know you like finn, and you know I like Caleb. so why don't we both try to win them over?"

"i don't know if that's a good idea, you remember last summer? the roses and secret letters?" i sigh, looking down to my feet.
