An Apology

Sia's room

Kristen: He what?

Sia: I told you, it was all just...weird.

Kristen: I knew this would happen! Do you want me to talk to him?

Sia: What? No! Of course not.
Let's just go to class now.

Kristen: Alright. (sighs)

Classroom

Sia: (sits at the far corner)

Kristen: (joins her) Why here?

Sia: I don't want to sit next to Chris.

Kristen: Hmm...

Professor Matt: I'm sorry, guys, but there's a pop quiz! (Grins)

Some girl: Come on, you don't look so sorry!

Sia: (looks at her) Ugh. What is she trying to do?

Kristen: Messing around with your boyfriend? Bad move.

Professor Matt: Okay so, I printed out papers for you and I promise it is going to be easy.

Professor Matt: (walks towards Sia and hands her the paper without looking at her)

Kristen: What's up?

Sia: I don't know. I'll ask him after class.

Later

(Bell rings)

Professor Matt: Alright everyone, I hope you answered correctly.

Sia: Did you notice? Chris and Ryan weren't in class.

Kristen: Do you reckon it's about the kiss?

Sia: (glances at Matt) Oh. Do you think he found out?

Kristen: I don't think so. It didn't mean anything anyway.

Sia: (touches her lips) Of course it didn't.
Hey Matt!

Matt: (stops and turns around) Yeah?

Sia: Did something happen? Did I do anything wrong?

Matt: Really? Playing dumb now?

Sia: I really don't understand.

Matt: So you didn't kiss Chris?

Sia saw a sparkle of hope in his eyes, but was soon to turn it down.

Sia: Who told you? I mean, it wasn't -

Matt: So it did happen. (Looks at her sadly and walks away)

Sia: Matt, just -

Sia stopped talking; Mark has already walked away.

Sia: (sighs)

Sia's room

Kristen: I can't believe this happened. What are you going to do?

Sia: I don't even know. I can't think. I just want to know who told Matt about that stupid kiss!

Kristen: Look, I promise I'll help you, but I heard Ryan say he'll go to the cafeteria so I need to go. Maybe I'll get a chance to talk to him. Okay?

Sia: Of course, have fun! (smiles weakly)

Katie: (walks out)

Sia: (starts crying)

(Knock knock)

Sia: (opens the door) Not now, Alex (pushes the door)

Alex: (blocks the door) Sia, just listen to me.

Sia unwillingly lets him in, as he is much stronger than she is.

Sia: What do you want?

Alex: Will you be my girlfriend?

Sia: (stares at him) Did you really think I still love you? Unbelievable.

Alex: Look, I have changed, okay?

Sia: I don't care. Now, get out.

Alex: Fine, but I haven't given up yet. (Walks out)

Before Sia could close the door, Chris was in front of it.

Sia: (sighs)

Chris: Can I come in?

Sia: I guess...

Chris: (slowly walks in) I've been trying to arrange my thoughts into a decent apology, but nothing worked, so here I am. (Takes a deep breath) Look, I'm really sorry about that kiss, and I swear I didn't plan it or anything. I only came so you can help me study. If you wish to never see me again, I'll understand - although I'll be extremely upset – and I'll try not to bother you. I want you to know that the kiss was a wrong thing to do and that it doesn't have to mean anything.

Sia: (starts crying) Matt practically broke up with me!

Sia covers her face with her hands as Chris takes a step closer and pulls her into a tight hug.

Chris: (whispers) I'm sorry.

It was true that Chris slightly disliked Matt. However, he never wanted Sia to be hurt. He had a burning feeling of guilt in his stomach.

Sia: (pulls away) I think I need some sleep.
She looks at Chris and smiles, then she turns away and heads for her bed.

Chris: Okay, I'll see you later then. (smiles)

He walks away and gently closes the door behind him.
