"Papa, you're home!" An elated girl around eight years of age runs up to Big Hat Ryan as he enters the main hall of his castle home. Her dress flutters about her resembling her angelic expression.
"That I am. Did you miss me?" Big Hat Ryan takes the girl into his arms.
"Yeah! Very much." She lovingly hugs her father.
"Oh, you're here. . ." now the voice of a mature woman resounds through the huge empty hall. Everything goes silent for a second.
From underneath his big hat, Big Hat Ryan glares at her, before averting his eyes back to the joy before him. "Yeah. I came to see my daughter." He plays with her nose causing her to giggle.
"Is that so?" With that she leaves the two be and retreats back up the stairs further into the castle.
This was how things were now. It must've been hard on Esuto, their daughter, to see her parents so distant like this. It was beginning to be the case that she couldn't even remember the good times when they were all together as a family, but ever since that 'event' they had been torn as to be a piece of ripped parchment. Big Hat Ryan legally lost everything including his kingdom and lived as a hermit wandering the barren Earth. On occasion he would teleport back to the castle to see his daughter, but he had been doing so exceedingly less. He was finally getting used to being alone.
"Papa, will you stay here with me tonight?" the small girl in his arms pleads, the princess of the entire kingdom, her mother the queen and her father a former king.
Big Hat Ryan sighs. "Not today, sweetheart."
Esuto's mood dampens and she merely lays her head upon her father's chest with a frown. Big Hat Ryan places the girl back down after a few moments and leaves her be in the hall by herself, making his way to his study. There he grabs as many books as he can and vanishes without a trace.
Thecastle was a cold and quiet place and it grew exceedingly more so as the monthspassed. Esuto played by herself with the toys her father had bought her as asmall child, for it was all she had of him. She wanted everything to go backthe way it was. She hated being alone like this. She aimlessly wandered thecastle and found one of the few paintings of the former king that hadn't beentaken down by her mother. It was a family portrait of all three of them. Asusual her father wore his peculiar big hat and held onto the shoulder of hermother who held her as a baby. They were all smiling and they were all happythen, happy to be together, but those days were gone. The love between them haddisintegrated and Esuto began to realize that even her father to whom she lovedso had forsaken her. He cared only about his magical studies. A certain hatebegan to grow in Esuto.
