Texting isn’t really my thing. I’m the first to admit I’m not outgoing. I have my simple little phone with limited texting, and that’s really all I need. Usually, the only texts I get are short, funny ones from my over-hyper best friend, Kat, or when one of the popular girls in my school accidentally texts my number, thinking I’m the Lucy from their clique. So, most of the texts I receive go straight to the “trash” folder. But I surprise even myself when I read this one.
It’s an accidental message, sent by one of the girls who teases me constantly. I’m about to press “delete” when a word catches my eye—audition. I’m an actress, so the word begs me to continue.
hey. why couldnt u ichat last night??? annoying mom again???

I’m not a spy, or a stalker. But I love reading and acting—so how could I pass this up? A smile creeps onto my face, as I start to contemplate ways to ask my mom to take me, and how I’ll tell Kat I’m finally following my dream.
