Olivia Williams and Lip Gallagher had a lot in common. They both had hectic families, they both live under the rules of their older siblings, and they're both super smart.
But the thing is, they didn't know each other.
Sure, they've passed each other in the halls at school. Olivia knew who Lip was and Lip knew who Olivia was, but they didn't know each other. They shared passing glances in the hallway, but never spoke. They had classes together, but they never spoke.
Olivia knew the reputation of Lip's family. His father, Frank Gallagher, was a drunk who lived between his favorite bar The Alibi and his "girlfriend" Sheila's house. Ironically, Lip was screwing Sheila's daughter, Karen. She knew that Lip and his older sister Fiona are basically the legal guardians of their younger siblings, Ian, Debbie, Carl and Liam.
Olivia's life was similar. Her parents were both drunks who were rarely home, so she helps take care of her younger twin sisters Analyn and Avelyn with her overworked older brother Tyler.
It's a wonder how Lip and Olivia had never spoken to each other. How they had never realized how much they had in common.
But all that would change, one fateful day in the Southside of Chicago.
