Olivia sat in her seat in her 12th grade English class waiting for the teacher to assign the partners for their Macbeth project. She desperately wanted the class to end, since it was the last period of the day.
As usual, Lip Gallagher came waltzing into the classroom late. He dropped a pink piece of paper from the attendance office on the teacher's desk before sauntering his way to his seat behind Olivia.
Despite the fact that Lip has sat behind her all year in this class, and despite the fact that they've been going to school together since kindergarten, Olivia had never once spoken to Lip.
Not that she wanted to.
His reputation told her everything she needed to know about him.
Olivia breathed out a sigh as she mindlessly doodled flowers and smiley faces on a piece of paper, her head only snapping up once she'd heard the teacher say her name.
"Olivia, you're partners with Lip,"
Her eyes widened and she twisted around in her seat. Lip smirked at her and shot her a wink. She scoffed and turned back around.
Seconds later, Lip appeared beside her. He dropped his stuff down and sat in the chair. Olivia refused to look at him, instead pulling out her copy of Macbeth she'd checked out of the school library.
"Why do I get the feeling you don't want to work with me?"
Olivia turned her head and looked at Lip.
"Because I don't,"
"How come? We're the two smartest kids in this class. We'll work well together,"
Olivia rolled her eyes. "I don't like you,"
Lip chuckled. "Why? We've never even talked! Maybe you should get to know me before you judge!"
"Your reputation speaks volumes, Phillip," Olivia replied.
"Well, you're gonna have to talk to me. I'm not gonna fail this project because you don't like me,"
---
"So, you wanna come over tonight so we can finish this project?" Lip asked Olivia as they walked out of the classroom.
Olivia sighed, knowing she had to. "Fine,"
Lip smirked. "Great. Meet me outside in twenty and we'll walk,"
Olivia nodded. She wanted to question why he was making her wait twenty minutes even though school was over, but then she realized he was probably going to get his dick sucked by Karen.
Everyone knew Lip and Karen were fuck buddies. It wasn't exactly something they tried to hide.
"Yeah, I'll wait here while you go get your dick sucked,"
Lip smirked at her again. "Well, would you rather it be you?"
Olivia pulled a face and shook her head. "I wouldn't put that herpes infestation in my mouth if you paid me a million bucks,"
Lip chuckled and began walking down the hallway.
"Herpes infestation, huh?"
Olivia turned her head to meet the eyes of Ian Gallagher, Lip's younger brother.
"Your brother is an asshole," She said.
Ian laughed. "Yeah, I know. He's just playing with you,"
"I know. I'm just kinda pissed off because we have a project to do and he's making me wait for him while he's fucking Karen,"
"Well, as much fun as this conversation has been, I gotta get to work. See you later, Liv!"
With that, Ian turned and walked through the doors of the school. Olivia let out a sigh, scanning her eyes over then now empty hallway.
She turned on her heel and walked out the doors, plopping herself down on the front steps to wait for Lip. She didn't want to take the chance of possibly hearing whatever the hell was going on with Lip and Karen.
---
Exactly twenty minutes later, Lip walked up behind Olivia and sat his hands on her shoulders, causing her to let out a scream. Lip practically fell over from laughing.
"It's not funny! You scared the shit out of me!" Olivia shouted, punching his shoulder.
"Alright, sorry! Let's go,"
Lip grabbed her hand and pulled her down the steps and onto the sidewalk. Olivia rolled her eyes and pulled her hand out of his grasp.
"I'm warning you now, my house is crazy," Lip told her as they walked.
"So I've heard," She replied.
The rest of the walk to the Gallagher house was silent. Lip kicked a rock as they walked. Olivia just looked down at her feet.
GALLAGHER HOUSE...
"I'm home!" Lip shouted when they walked through the front door.
He lead Olivia into the kitchen, where Fiona was standing with Carl behind her putting something in the microwave.
"Hi, I'm Fiona," Fiona said to Olivia.
Olivia smiled at her. "Olivia, but call me Liv,"
Fiona smiled.
"Hey! Why didn't you tell me to call you Liv?" Lip asked her.
"Because only people I like get to call me Liv. And I don't like you,"
Fiona and Carl both laughed at Olivia's comment.
Lip rolled his eyes and once again grabbed her hand, this time pulling her towards the stairs.
"We've got a project to do,"
---
An hour later, Liv and Lip were done with their Macbeth project.
"So, do you want to keep it or should I take it home with me?" Olivia asked him as she moved off of Ian's bed.
"Um, I'll keep it," Lip told her.
"Okay, well, I'd better get going. My brother will lose his mind if I don't get home soon,"
Lip got up from the bed. "Where do you live?" He asked her.
"Just a couple blocks away. Why?" She replied.
"I'll walk with you,"
Olivia opened her mouth to protest but Lip cut her off.
"Don't even. It's a dangerous neighborhood. I would never forgive myself if I let you walk home alone and something happened,"
Olivia nodded, the faintest hint of a smile on her face.
"Alright, thanks, Lip,"
