Chapter One: The Escape
--------
“Dude, are you done eating that guy? They’re here, dude! They are totally here!”
The moment he said those words, I felt sick to my stomach.
I ate a living being.
I ate a human.
I couldn’t believe that I was actually enjoying the taste of his innards. It felt good. The juices, which I concluded was the man’s blood was actually quite marvelous despite the terrible piquancy.
I wiped away the blood that was left sticking on the corner of my lips with my sleeves. I was about to eat the dead man’s brain, but a certain person had stopped me from doing so.
“Stop it, Cade. You will only hurt yourself from eating too much of human flesh.”
The voice echoed through my mind and it was pleasant to hear. I grinned at myself. “H-He… He actually cares…” I mumbled to myself. “He does, you idiot! Now, get your ass out of there!”
I clicked my tongue in annoyance and decided to do what I was told. What could I possibly do to him? Nothing.
“Zach, there was a movement upstairs. They might catch us here. We should move out,” said the bastard who got himself screaming when he had heard the sirens booming outside the house.
Tch.
“No. It’s too late for that,” leader said. “Besides, we have plenty of plans to escape.”
Later on, I snickered. The thought of walking out from the front door made me realize that following the bastard’s orders might kill us. The bastard glared at me and just spent his remaining time to grumble some vague words at me, which I returned with a spit on the face. He reacted by getting himself a bat, but he was distracted when Zach had stopped him.
I bit my lower lip to contain my laughter and even walked through the hallway to explore. I could sense five people upstairs and I absolutely knew that they wouldn’t show their horrible faces to us. I didn’t know why, but I think I have some sort of supernatural powers.
I giggled and decided to go inside a room. The two people whom I considered as comrades follow me behind and there it was. Within the room was a huge mirror. It was hanging on the wall. It was facing us and mocking us.
I saw three figures standing in front of us On the right side, I saw a tall man whose hair sticking out in every angle. He wore a mask and his hair was brown in color. His pretty face was disturbing for me because I hated the guy. My jaw quivered in annoyance when the man smiled annoyingly at me.
“Jealous of my pretty face, Cade?”
I rolled my eyes and turned to look at our leader: Zach. He was looking outside, his back facing me. He wore a black trench coat and beneath that coat was a fitted shirt and a fitted pants. His raven-hair was silky that I wanted to stroke it with my fingers.
I looked back at the hanging mirror and finally, I spotted a creepy-looking male. He was grinning widely at me. And it took me a second to realize that those were our reflections; mocking us in a way that I didn’t like. I was wearing a parka and my orange hair was a mess. I couldn’t take my eyes off of our own reflections…
To my surprise, the people upstairs began to move. “Zach!” I heard the bastard say. But of course, I remained calm on the outside.
“W-What is… What i-is your plan…?” I managed to ask. My shaky voice hinted the two that I was actually scared of what was happening.
Zach looked at me with his piercing blue eyes and he reached out for my hair to ruffle it. “Try to relax, Cade. Areon and I won’t let them catch us. We will get through this,” he said. He tried to calm me down until, “So, here’s the plan. See that window over there?”
He pointed at the window. I followed his fingers; my head began to move slowly and I only nodded in response. “I want you to jump from this place. But before that, let Areon do it first.”
I tilted my head in confusion. The house was a two-storey and jumping from the first floor won’t hurt me, so why should Areon do the jumping first? “Just let me do it. This Zachy over here likes you and he’ll never forgive himself if you get hurt,” Areon said, massaging his temples. I wasn’t sure what he meant by that, but I only nodded.
After giving Zach my positive response, Areon ran past through me with a smirk plastered on his face. With a whoosh, he jumped outside. I heard a faint thump and it occurred to me that he landed safely on the ground.
“Good. It’s your turn to jump, Cade.” I heard Zach say. I looked at him and the corners of my mouth crept up. “Y-You… Jump… Jump af-after me, ‘kay?” I said.
He flashed me a warm smile. His face was beautiful. My heart even went ba-thump when he grinned at me. “I got it.”
After answering me, I walked towards the open window. I didn't want to look like I was chickening out, so I showed a lot more confidence. I wasn't prepared for the ferocious wind to greet my face. The wind almost pushed my weak body. I smiled at myself. I was actually enjoying it.
I looked down and spotted a familiar brunette. His face was amusingly pissed and I liked it. Once he saw me, he extended his arms out to catch me. I was about to jump when I suddenly heard the door open. I quickly looked back but I was pushed through…
The moment I fell from the house was utterly traumatizing. The world had gone slow in motion. I remembered myself reaching out to save Zach from getting killed…
But it was too late for that.
I saw five men walked in from that mirrored room. They were firing something heavy at us but luckily, none of those metals got me. Instead, they got…
Zach.
