Photo is your last look at Sky.

Sky lost consciousness around the same time the building began to groan with impending collapse, so when the loud banging noises jolted him awake his first thought was that the roof was coming in on top of them.

Turning his head he saw the flashes of lights and felt the spray of cold water that poured into the room as firefighters rushed inside. Turning his head he saw Jenny, slumped over in a heap on the floor and unmoving.

"Jennifer," He spoke before erupting into a fit of coughs.

"Jenny...."

"Sir! Are you hurt?!"A firefighter was gripping his arms and calling to him.

"Jenny!" He called louder.

"Sir, I need you to focus on me. We'll help her but I need you to focus."

Turning his attention to the man in front of him Sky slowly pushed to his feet, the firefighter gripping his arm to help him balance.

"Sir, take it easy."

"I can walk just.....help her."

"Sir..."

"Help her!" Sky snapped, placing a hand on the wall to steady himself.

"Can we get the cutters over here?!" The firefighter yelled, waving to his comrades.

Sky backed away as the fireman swarmed forward to where Jenny was trapped, they began yelling to each other different. One grabbing his arm and pulling him from the building. They helped him to the waiting ambulance.

"Get this guy looked at, there's a girl still inside we're trying to get her out." The fireman said.

"Jenny, her name is Jenny." Sky said.

"Sir, just sit still."

The female EMT pulled out a small flashlight, checking his eyes before pulling over an oxygen tank and warm blanket. She wrapped the blanket around his shoulders and handed him the mask.

"Place this over your face and breathe normally," She instructed.

"Where's Jenny? Where's my sister?" He asked.

"Sir, I promise you they're doing everything they can for her."

She listened to his heart beat, and clipped a small device on the end of his finger to check his oxygen levels. When she was satisfied that it was returning to normal she moved into the ambulance.

Sky couldn't take his eyes off the building, Jenny was still inside and every minute seemed like hours before finally the fireman emerged. Four men carried a lifeless form on a board between them, they hurried towards the ambulance and Sky shot to his feet, instantly dizzy.

"We got her! She's in bad shape!" One of the men called to the paramedic.

"Step aside," She motioned at Sky and he stepped back.

"Jenny!" He called out to her as the fireman grew closer.

The paramedic reached them and quickly checked both of her eyes, Jenny didn't stir. She checked her pulse and then shook her head.

"She's not breathing. Get her in the ambulance."

The fireman followed the paramedic, placing Jenny in the ambulance and Sky could do nothing but watch as she began cpr.

"Please...Jenny....come on, breathe." He begged.

After a few long and painful seconds the paramedic backed away from Jenny, placing an oxygen mask over her face.

"I got a pulse, I'm starting an IV drip. We have to get her to the emergency room." She said.

"I'm coming too," Sky replied.

He climbed into the back of the ambulance with Jenny, the paramedic closed the doors and with a few knocks on the roof the ambulance lurched and started to drive. Sky collapsing on Jennys right while the paramedic started an IV. Gripping her free hand in both of his he leaned closer.

"Come on Jenny, please. Don't leave me like this," He begged.

"Her pulse is strong," The paramedic said.

He gave a slow nod, not tearing his eyes from Jenny for even a second. He did this, he put her in this position, he'd almost killed her.

"I promise it's going to be different Jenny, I promise. If you just....hang on, I'll get help for the gambling."

"How long have you been dating?" The woman across Jenny asked.

"We.....we're uhm.....not long," He said slowly.

"I can tell you love her very much, I promise we'll all do everything we can."

They reached the hospital a short time later and Jenny was whisked away before Sky could say anything else. He stepped from the ambulance, watching the doors close behind the doctors and nurses who hurried around Jenny.

"You need to let them look at you," the paramedic said.

"I'm fine."

"No, you're not."

Sky reluctantly let the woman lead him in to the emergency room where doctors ran tests, poked and prodded him until he was more sore than before he went in. He was released with only minor carbon-monoxide poisoning and an inhaler for a few days with instructions to take it easy. He sat in the waiting room a full two hours before finally a doctor entered, Sky stood to greet him.

"We've done all we can for now," The doctor said gently.

"Is....is she....is she going to be okay?" Sky asked, his heart lodging somewhere in his throat.

"She'll live."

Sky let out a shaky breath he didn't know he'd been holding and collapsed into a nearby chair, tears blinding his vision and tightening his throat.

"She inhaled a lot of smoke, there's definitely damage to her lungs. As for the carbon-monoxide poisoning I don't know yet the extent of how bad it is. There's a good chance she'll suffer from brain damage but I can't be sure how severe until she wakes up."

"But she will wake up?"

"I think so yes, but....we need to prepare ourselves for the worst."

"I don't care about any of that, can I see her?" He asked.

"For a few minutes, I suppose."

Sky followed the doctor down the narrow, white hall way and into a small room. Jenny lay in the hospital bed a monitor beeping with her heartbeat, an IV in one arm and an oxygen mask still in place and asleep.

"I'll give you a few minutes," The doctor said gently.

"Thanks."

The doctor left and Sky timidly approached the small bed, reaching out to lay his hand on the back of Jennys.

"Hey Baby, it's okay I'm here now."

He eased into a chair next to her bed, reaching out to brush her long brown hair off her face.

"It's going to be okay, I promise. Whatever happens....whatever kind of.....condition you're in I'm going to take care of you. I promise, I'll take care of you. Don't worry about anything but waking up, okay?"

"I'm going to make it all okay Jenny, I promise."

She didn't stir, not even a flutter of her eyes. He leaned down to kiss the back of her hand then stood. Taking a deep breath, whatever happened he'd be sure to take care of Jenny, he'd make this all up to her, somehow.
