I sat in the Math Department all alone. Nobody was still here yet. After all, it was 6:30 AM.

I was waiting for Eric to come by but for some reason, he was not at school yet. He had text me about his child's fever and how he was going to be late today.

I sighed at the lonesome air.

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.Inhale-

SMACK! Mrs. Edna had hit the table with the palm of her hand, a usual habit she did whenever she demanded for attention.

"Daniel, why aren't you answering me?" Mrs. Edna nearly shouted. "You're always zoning off and focusing on something else when someone like me is trying to talk to you."

I adjusted my sitting position and leaned forward, "I'm sorry. What were you saying again?"

She paused, studying my face, "Well I just want you to know that you are in big trouble with me."

I felt a cold sweat form, "...And why is that?"

She paused again, "Well you see, I know that there is something going on between you and Eric.

My heart nearly stopped, "What do you mean by that?" I felt my voice getting higher. She noticed.

"I'm going to save that for later. I want to talk to you in private when first period starts." She muttered in a stern voice.

I nodded, "If you say so."

The door swung wide open and many kids began to pour in. "Well, talk to you later Mrs. Edna. Advisory will be starting soon."

She walked away in acknowledgement. With every step she took, her hair would bounce and so would her middle-aged guts. I laughed at how she could barely walk in those three inched wedges.

As I was about to stand up to go into the office, Angel appears right in front of my desk.

"Mr. Léonce!" She nearly shouted.

My eyes nearly bulged out, "What is it? Or rather, how can I help you in this early morning hour?"

Her face became even more annoyed, "Why is my rate so low?!"

I sighed, "Well, I don't know what to tell you. I guess you didn't really understand the unit from what I can tell from your incomplete assignment."

She shot me a look but then her expression calmed down after she closed her eyes, "Well, that's one thing. BUT STILL! I never got a test score that low!"

"Look, calm down Angel. It's fine. You aren't the only one. In fact, your table failed their tests as well."  My passive voice tried to sooth her. "Don't worry about it right now. I will talk about it later. Go on to class."

She took a deep breath and then sighed in defeat, "Fine. But I want answers!"

Angel gave me one more look then spun around and walked out the door.

I propped myself on the desk with my elbows and rubbed my temples. It was too early in the morning for me to process any thought.

~Second Period~

I decided to go upstairs to check on Eric. I haven't seen him all day. My mouth began to water just by the thought of him. I quickly went up the stairs and desperately walked towards the engineering department. However to my surprise, he was nowhere to be found.

Awkwardly, I decided to check in the Science Department and found him lecturing his class about robotics. "...And you see. We should have robots! You should make robots! Robots could make our lives easier and do the tasks we don't like! Robots are awesome. So with that, you all should head over to the lab and my engineering kiddos, go conquer the world!"
