That night, I laid in bed, staring at the ceiling. I felt a little tug. I looked to my right to see my wife falling fast asleep. I don't understand how its warm, yet I feel so alone.

Feeling guilty, I petted her head gently until I fell asleep.

The next morning, I jolted up as my late alarm screeched. Frustrated, I threw my phone on the floor after I turned off the alarm. I placed my two feet on the ground, my hands on the sides of my thighs, pushing some weight on the edge of the bed.

I sat there, staring down at the ground hard, trying to figure out if I was awake or if I was still in a dream.

when I arrived at the school, I saw that Stefan had not checked in yet. I was almost late but I was early enough. I had fifteen minutes before the warning bell.

When I walked past the lobby, I heard some murmuring. Then I felt a sudden tug at my white dress shirt sleeve.

"Daniel," Lucas whispered, "Let me talk to you for a bit."

I quickly turned around. I felt a sudden shiver.

"Now?" I scanned the area

"Now?" I scanned the area.

"Yeah." Lucas said with sincerity.

"Okay..." I placed my bag down and stood at the column, left to the stair case.

"Look, I heard that you and Stefan are having some conflict...and...Eric got involved..." He looked around the area once more, then continued, "I'm not sure if this is a school related issue or a personal matter. " He bit his lip.

Trying my best, I looked at him straight in the eyes with no emotion, my eyes were dull.

"It has nothing to do with you, Lucas. I get that you are concerned, thanks, but look, I-I...Its nothing, really."

"Suit yourself." He walked away with big steps, steps that were filled with anger.

"Fuck,"I muttered to myself.

I walked into the Math Department to find our new Assistant principle sitting at my desk.

"May I speak to you, Mr. Léonce?" She smiled with great force.

I nodded. It felt as if someone had thrown a bag of bricks on top of me.  I rolled up my sleeves. I do this every time I get nervous or uneasy.  It's another way of fidgeting for me.

I grinned my teeth and looked to the far left. Mrs. Edna was seated at the edge of a table, with legs crossed, and a sinister smile. Eric was standing by her side.

I stared at the ground to avoid eye contact

I stared at the ground to avoid eye contact. I knew where this was going.

"Mr. Léonce, please take a seat right in front of me. And if you are wondering, those two are my witnesses." She gestured to the chair in front of my desk.

As I tried to move my feet, it felt as if I was in quick sand. I hesitated at first, but then gained the courage to finally walk towards my desk.

"Hmm, isn't this young man trouble some? He lost all sense of direction!" Mrs. Edna snickered.

"We haven't even began, so shut it!" Mrs. Arachnid spat.

I could hear Eric grumbling about something.

"What was that, Mr. Pendles? Would you like to speak first? You do? Great! Let us begin, shall we?" Mrs. Arachnid interrupted Eric.

Eric shot me a glare of strange distance.

I winced.

"So, let me get this straight, Daniel, are you having a forbidden relationship with a student?" Eric spoke with sarcasm.

My eyes widened, "What student? No! I would never do such a thing!" A flashback of that strange  girl flourished my mind. I felt my cheeks getting heated.

"Okay then, I already knew that part. Anyways, I saw you making out with Stefan." He looked at his nails, pretend to blow dirt off, and then looked back at me.

Mrs. Edna sat upright from her previous sluggish position as she grew interest in what might happen next.

"I saw you and Stefan flirting during class." Mrs. Edna raised her brows and smacked her lips.

Mrs. Arachnid shook her head in artificial disappointment, "I can't believe what I am hearing. Is this true? Do you object? Or will you testify?"

I stared straight past Mrs. Arachnid, "I am not capable of such a thing. I do not even know who Stefan is."

I wasn't sure who I was trying to save at this point.

"Sure." Eric scoffed.

Mrs. Edna joined in, "Are you hiding something from us, Mr. Léonce?"

"Certainly." I felt my limbs go weak. My blood drained from my face.

Mrs. Arachnid studied my face some more before speaking, "I do not want to see you talking to any staff today and tomorrow."

I held my breath.

"You are under investigation." Eric smiled and so did Mrs. Edna.

I couldn't believe what was happening.
