Now a good way to remember the difference, (and there is one) is to actually use the words themselves to help determine which one to use.
There is for location because it has 'here' in it. Get it?
For example, the cookie is over there. It can also be used for stuff that is 'here' like, there's a snake in my boot.
A common problem is people forget the other ones and just use this one.
Over there is there shoe and there here to collect it.
No this is not right! Stop!
Their is for possession because it has an I in it. It works if you think about it like the chocolate belongs to me, myself and I.
The last one is they're, this stands for they are.
They're getting the train.
They are getting the train.
If the sentence does not make sense if you takeout the apostrophe then do not use it.
