And anyone else who wants to join and get notifications each Saturday! Get involved in PW! comment, ask questions, share ideas, help us to make this lame blog an awesome ministry!

Usually I do my best to make my sermons for everyone across the spiritual spectrum, from "I might believe in a God" to full fledged minister.

This particular sermon is for present and future ministers, as well as any person who is enabled with the Gifts of the Spirit or is seeking them. That doesn't mean everyone can't get something out of it!

Aiming The Mark, Missing The Point

I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:   And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.   Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Revelation 2:2‭-‬4 KJV

I watched a video from a guy I recommended you guys in a previous chapter. Something he said blew me back.
(paraphrased heavily) "Your prayer is NOT to gain spiritual authority. It is to have an intimate relationship with God."
As a minister (at least over PW for now) it's easy for me to get MISLEAD into just praying for power. I assume it's a pretty common problem.

Give me that sermon that will convince them they need the Spirit.

Give me the power to see into a church brother or sister and rebuke devils in their lives.

Give me the ability to heal people like Peter and Paul did, like you did Jesus.

And there's nothing wrong with that at all! We NEED to be like the First Church! Heck, we need to be a whole lot greater than that! Look at all the miracles and wonders in Acts. If our communities aren't sending their sick and their corpses to our altars and our believers, we're doing something wrong!

So what are we doing wrong? We fall into the trap of praying for things or praying for power, even with nothing but good intent, even with nothing but SEEMINGLY GODLY INTENT.

But our eyes are off the real prize. An intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He touches us, speaks to us through the Holy Ghost, through unutterable groanings of the Spirit! He comforts, heals, washes, restores, He tells us we are his children!
You are His son!
You are His daughter!
And He wants us to love Him, that's all He's ever asked. Everything our Daddy's ever done, He's done for us. He just wants our love.
