What A Loving God Hates
Sermon modified and only slightly ripped off of "Condemnation Interferes With Intimacy". It's a great sermon you all should watch on youtube. If I had it my way, every young person and every minister would watch a sermon that explains our relationship to God like this. I added the link right up there. ^^^
For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

God is love. I don't need to find verses for that claim today; you hear it all the time from preachers, pastors, fakers, and healers. Joel Osteen has made a multi-billion dollar industry warping all the verses in the Bible that says God is love. Jesus tells us that His forgiveness and compassion stretches as far as the east is to the west, from one nailed hand to the other.
What if I told you there were not some, but several things this infinitely loving God hates?
What could God hate? He is love!
God hates what separates Him from His love.
That's why the Bible says God hates sin.
Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Isaiah 59:1-2 KJV
God isn't hating the people who have sinned right there, but their sin has made them something that God cannot, as a Holy God, condone. It separates them, and was so evil Jesus Christ had to die on the cross to end it's sting on our lives.
But there's something else God hates, something that God absolutely abhors and, if how Jesus treated people on earth is any kind of record, hates it more than sin itself.
Religion.
Wait a minute, isn't Christianity a religion? Isn't PC a religious movement?
Yes, and no. There are multiple meanings to the word religion. One is the faith we have in God called Christianity, the idea that we believe the Bible is right and there's a God named Jesus Christ and etc;. This is more of a misuse of the word, actually.
