how come everybody thinks that to make their book good they have to make at least one of their characters suicidal/depressed ? and it's not even that they make them suicidal that bothers me. I think that making a character this way helps raise awareness on the issue.
it's the way the author talks about it. they make it seem like it's nothing . or they're so rushed to finish their book that they write it wrong and it's just cringey. like if you're gonna involve such an important topic in your work , at least take the time and do research about it and give it the importance it deserves.
not everybody who has depression contemplates suicide. My mom used to have depression and never once did she try to take her life away and she always said that even in that state , she was afraid of death.
all I'm trying to say is that if you're gonna write about something like this , make sure it's accurate and it reflects the importance of it. this isn't a joke and I'm sick of reading books that make it seem like it is.
