~VIC’S POV~

Life has been hard lately. I really had some rad ideas to make our first album but it was only my brother Mike and me. We needed more people to join in our band. A bassist and if possible another guitarist. But things aren’t always like you want them, are they?. We have met quite a few guys and girls so far but we just didn’t feel them, you know? Music is all about feeling, at least for me, and to be honest, those people didn’t make me feel anything while they were playing. However, we had to hurry up because the only record label who was willing to release our first album gave us a strict deadline to find the people we needed. The problem was that such deadline was tomorrow at 5PM and I still didn’t feel like picking anyone we had seen. What is more, my brother Mike was starting to pressure me to choose just anyone and be done already.

Well, “pressuring” was just a nice way to put it. He had just yelled at me: “I am tired of this fucking shit, tomorrow I am setting up a meeting with a guitarist called Tony and his friend Jaime who happens to be a bassist. I am warning you… they seemed cool guys to me, but if you don’t like them then you will have to put your shit together and pick anyone! We aren’t just throwing away our one true opportunity to become something because of your bullshit, got it?” I nodded and decided to let it go this time; I mean, I was the older of us two, but…Mike was right I had been a pain in the ass for weeks now, and all he did was keep finding new people to show me, yet I didn’t like any of them. I was having a headache of only thinking about tomorrow. I just hoped that I’d finally get the feeling while hearing those “cool” guys play.  I finally turned off the light and fell asleep.

*Next day*

I took my place in the old but comfortable couch as I waved at Robin, the owner of this awesome bar. He was the typical metal-head and we got on pretty well. I could say that, so far, he was our only fan. He really liked our music and he also wasn’t surprised of seeing me here quite lately; he understood my problem related to choosing the right people so well that he let me use the scenario for free, to watch the candidates play (and then go as they came). They always go.

And it was my fault, Mike kind of like them all more or less.

Suddenly my thoughts were interrupted by my brother’s voice coming from behind me. He placed his hands on my shoulders lightly shaking me upside down.

“Vic, this is Tony, he plays guitar.” He cheerily exclaimed, pointing to the guy on the left. Tony did look serious but you could tell by looking in his eyes and posture that he was incredible nervous and shy.

“Hi Tony.” I said half waving my hand. I thought it would seem polite to do that, now I felt stupid. Stupid Mike and his arm strength that wouldn’t let me stand up.

“You look focused, I like that.” I added, surprised that I managed to continue somehow after such an embarrassing greeting.

Tony let out a little smile and partly blushed. Yep, he was just awkward. I like that. I needed someone to compensate for my natural loudness.

“Okay, so… Vic, obviously Jaime is the one out there. He plays bass, as you might assume.” Mike continued.

I turned to my right and gave him a quick look. He was standing against the wall with his hands on his pockets.

“Such a sassy posture.” I thought.

The first thing I noticed about him was his spiky black hair. Then, his strong and semi-tattooed arms. Finally, his eyes. God, they weren’t just any eyes. They were black as hell, and I felt the urge to look away but somehow I didn’t. Was I feeling intimidated?

No fucking way. I wasn’t like that. I didn’t simply get intimidated by someone looking at me.

“Compose yourself, Victor. He may be a sexy bastard but you aren’t into guys anymore. Besides he probably isn’t even gay or bi” I tried to convince myself just like I had been doing for the past months with other guys.

“Hello Jaime” I smirked trying to look untouched by his presence and the way he looked at me.

“Hey! It’s pronounced Hi-me actually” he sneered at me.

“Whatever” I snapped rolling my eyes.

“Well guys…” Mike said realizing that this sassy boy was getting on my nerves. “…I think is about time we hear you play. Stage is yours, show us what you got.” he winked at no one in particular.

I couldn’t take my eyes off Jaime. He gave some kind of signal to Tony and looked at Mike in the eye.

“Sure.” He smirked.

They started playing a few minutes later, after tuning their instruments. It only took me one minute to realize they were the ones. Yes, I was listening to them with my eyes closed when I felt the goosebumps all over my body. I knew it! I knew that we’d found them, all we needed was time, and a little luck of course.

“You are in people!” I suddenly barked “Congratulations, see you tomorrow morning.” I added while standing up.

Mike was looking at me with the biggest smile in his face while he shouted “You got it? Really? Oh god you have taken your goddamn time, haven’t you? I was starting to picture myself in a fucking college. You are just so complicated. But I love you little shit.” He hugged me like I had just came back from war. “Today is the day our lives begin to change Vic” He whispered in my ear.

“Well damn, this calls for a celebration!” Mike exclaimed freeing me. “Who is up for a beer?” he yelled seeming fully content.

“I’m in!” Tony said smiling quietly like a child who is about to do some naughty trick.

“Later.” I mumbled wishing I’d enjoy some time on my own without any worries. I like to be alone from time to time, it helps me relax and think about whatever is happening to me.

“Same.” Jaime said giving me his analyzing look.

And just like that Tony and Mike left leaving Jaime and me alone.

As soon as they left Jaime took Mike’s spot sitting on the couch next to me. It was getting harder to act stoically while having him so close. Truth be told, I could have left; but I was intrigued by his attitude towards me. I couldn’t quite tell if he was curious about how I acted or just couldn’t stop looking at me like I did with him. The difference, tough, was that I looked not only his face, but also his body. He didn’t. He just looked at my face, at my eyes more precisely. As much as I hated to admit it, I felt intimated again.

“You know…” he whispered seductively leaning closer… “I can spot your type a mile off.” he concluded.

He was so close, almost breathing in my ear now. I swallowed hard; it was becoming too much to handle. My own breathing accelerated a bit. I was supposed not to be into guys anymore. Yet, there I was. Weak. Being seduced by a guy I met half an hour ago. Nice way to go Vic.

“What do you mean?” I asked feigning naïvety while turning to face him. If I wanted to, I could clearly play that game too Mr.Sassy. I so could.

“Submissive.” he praised biting his right lower lip.
