Chapter 8.5

Ethans POV

"PAP!!!"

I burst out through my bedroom door and into the hallway.

Veronica sat in the hallway in Josh's lap, squealing happily and chirping at me. "PAP PAP PAP!!!"

I teared up excitedly and scooped her up, hugging her tight. "That's right!! That's my little babygirl!!! I'm Papa! I'm your Pap!!" I span around and tickled her tummy. "Good girl!!"

Josh squeaked. "Wait!!! Ethan don't spin her!! Sh-"

But before he could finish, I figured out why I shouldn't have been spinning.

In a split second I was covered in baby barf and she was screaming her head off, the touching moment suddenly taking a gross, sticky, unappealing orange turn for the worse.

"Well fuck. Okay. Sorry. I didn't know you just ate." I swayed and rubbed her back, my eyes watering from the smell.

"Papa's not mad. Papa is very very sorry. You were being a very good good girl. Can you say Papa again?"

She sniffled and cuddled into my shirt, trying to hide her face in my arm.

I peeled off my shirt and looked at Josh.

"Little help here?"

He took her and let me go have a shower.

Her little voice kept echoing in my head, repeating the word Pap over and over again.

The guys and I had already started on her 18th birthday present. We'd decided to make a memory album and we'd each write in it everytime we passed an important milestone.

So I wrote in it.

I'm always proud of  you my little cupcake.

I love you Veronica.  Even if you puke on me when I'm trying to express my excitement. Everything you do makes me smile.
You are one of the best things that's ever happened to me. Thank you for making me so happy my little cupcake.
So today you said your first word. It was Pap.
You don't even know!! How great that feels. I feel accomplished. Invigorated. I could climb a mountain. I could fly. Everything is great! ♡
I love you Veronica. You make me the happiest father on earth.
So thank you.
For everything.
