~Super short☹️~

Zonnique~

I opened my eyes and squinted, trying to adjust with the bright lights that were in my face. I groaned in pain as tears welled up in my eyes. I tried sitting up, but it hurt too bad.

"Hey, don't move. How do you feel?" Bahja ran her hand through my hair.

I tried to say terrible, but when I opened my mouth nothing came out. "I forgot you can't speak. Your esophagus tore which caused some bleeding, you can't speak until you get the surgery and everything's all healed."

I nodded and I thought back to how I ended up here. My eyes widened and I tried to sit up again. Bahja tried getting me to lay back down but I wouldn't go. I started hitting her as tears came down my face.

"Zonnique! Stop it!"

She grabbed my arms and put them down. Tears streamed down my face as I was breathing way too hard. I could hear it on the heart monitor.

"Shh, breathe and calm down. It's okay." She stroked my hair. "Here."

She walked away and went over to the table. She gave me a whiteboard and marker. I quickly wrote "where's Lauren?" On it.

"Oh Lauren is fine. Lani is in the next room with her, she wasn't hit too bad."

I nodded, slowly calming myself down. She wiped my tears and sat down next to me.

"I really don't know what to say since you can't speak. Except for the fact that I'm more than glad you're okay."

I mentally rolled my eyes because I knew this was gonna give her an opportunity to talk my ears off and say what she wants without interruption.

"Zo I don't wanna fight anymore," she grabbed my hand, "I could've lost you, and knowing what my last words to you were could've killed me."

I removed my hand from hers and grabbed the whiteboard and marker. I wrote "Bahja... Shutup"

She looked at it and knitted her eyebrows. I erased it and wrote, "I get what you're saying."

She nodded and I erased that, writing "was everything you said true?"

"Yes."

I shook my head and the door opened, a doctor walked in and she looked at me with a smile. "I didn't expect you to be awake so soon, but I'm glad you are. How are you feeling?"

Using my hand, I did an okay motion. "Well I'm Dr. Nash. I'm gonna run a few tests on you and then we'll get everything ready for the surgery."

"She's gonna be okay right? The surgery's not risky is it?" Bahja asked.

"She'll be fine. Your sister, next door though..."

Dr. Nash trailed on, and they both looked at me as my heart monitor sped up again. Bahja grabbed my hand in a calming way.

"Nothing is wrong with her, she's just a handful. I would've been in here sooner but she was talking my ears off, then we started talking about you." She nodded to me, "Are you Bahja?" She looked at her.

Bahja nodded her head, "yeah we talked a lot about you two and more."

"I wonder why it was Zo that tore her esophagus and not Lauren." She scoffed.

I hit her and frowned my face up, "what?"

I rolled my eyes at her and the doctor laughed while pulling on her gloves and pulling out a flashlight and a stick. "okay Ms. Pullins just open wide."
