Chapter 5

“I’ve been here for a day and already everything’s gone to shit…I guess I’m bad luck.” He was joking around but he didn’t even know. I laughed along with him though so he didn’t suspect I had such a big secret on my shoulders.

We were back at my house and on his request we got take-out and watched The Simpsons. Logan was laughing his ass off to this show, he has since we were little. Me, I wanted to watch a movie where someone was getting killed.

I took another bite of sushi when Logan’s phone vibrated on the table. He grabbed it and looked at his phone for a couple minutes, replying to whoever texted him. He had such a serious face the whole time. He put down his phone and continued to watch Homer beat up Bart. He laughed and then checked his phone again, quickly replying and putting his phone away.

“who’s that?” I looked at him. Hoping it was Lex telling him about her cheating and suppose engagement. Or his mom checking in.

“oh, just Dean.” Dean Collins, his best friend. They met on the set of one of Logan’s earliest projects “Jack and Bobby”. Ever since they have been close, coming second to me of course. They meet up and make short films together or play basketball. “He found out that Keri was cheating on him.” I almost choked on my water. What are the chances? He patted my back asking if I was okay. I waved him off.

“Awe. How is he?” I wanted to know how he reacted since Logan and him has similar personalities. He looked at me.

“Eh. Dean suspected it and he talked to me about it but he just never knew for sure…until now.” He didn’t really answer my question but I took it.

“I’ll be right back. I’m running low on water.” He nodded and went back to the TV as a commercial came on.

Once I was in the kitchen I pulled out my phone and texted Lexie. Hopefully she was awake.

Hey. I hope you’re doing better… I had a nice run in with Colby in the waiting room. Didn’t know you guys were engaged. I’m sorry Lex but I’m going to tell him. He needs to know, even if he will be mad with me. I’m sorry.

After it was sent my hands started to shake. How was I going to even break this news to Logan. Oh I hope Lexie is okay…by the way she is cheating? I’m not looking forward to this but it has to be done. Once my water was filled I felt my phone vibrate.

Lexiebear: Thanks for the wake up text Bree. Your such a bitch how could you be so selfish. I was going to tell him when he came to visit me. I think I can do it better than you. But since you’re doing it you can tell him it over and he just shouldn’t bother to come and visit me.

Wow was all I could say.

Lexiebear: oh and you should know that I’m going into another surgery at 10 because they found something that I can’t even pronounce and they have to remove it. Okay so if I die and you tell him everything that happened those will be the last feelings he will have for me and he will feel so guilty…great best friend.

She was right. Lexie should just tell him herself. She’s an adult, a grown woman. Why am I involved? I didn’t respond to her and I went into the living room and sat next to Logan stuffing his face with sushi and now watching the news.
