Archaic Academy

Chapter 4

After the homeroom class by my new adviser, Sir Orisis, we walked down the hallways going to the Battleground Gymnasium. I don't need my compass right now because I am with my new classmates.

I noticed how Harold and Aliyah are always smiling and laughing contently with each other. They look so in love and full of passion. I saw how Harold whispered Aliyah something in the ear which caused her to giggle softly.

"I probably didn't tell you but Aliyah and Harold are soul gems." Stella answered as if she was reading my mind.

"Ano yang soul gems?"

"When you reach the age of 17, either ano ka na department or blood, you will find your soul mate. We call them here soul gems. Romantic, isn't it? And well Aliyah and Harold are a year senior than you guys. I'm already seventeen to be honest." Stella laughed a little, "I already found mine."

"Really? Sino?" I beamed at her with such excitement to hear but she gave me a frown.

"He umm.."

"Okay guys we are here!" I hear Hellen exclaimed and we all stopped in front of a huge oak door.

"Magandang araw! My name is Commander Perses! I am one of the titans present in Greek Mythology. Welcome to our class, Miss Arnois." Commander Perses reached out a hand and I shook it with respect. I can tell that this man is someone hard to please. He wears a mocha colour suit that matches with his red hair that reaches above his shoulders. It is kind of shaggy looking, almost as if he has been going into fights.

Titans are not really mentioned in Greek Mythology. The ones I clearly remember or know are the parents of Zeus, Hades, Hera, Demeter, Poseidon, and Hestia—Kronos and Rhea.

"We will begin an aptitude test. It is done daily as we all know."

Others started to groan in frustration except for Richard and Damien. I went to Stella and asked her something about this aptitude test.

"It is to determine or predict one's capacity to do something or learn something. Daily kasi kami mag aptitude test. Para rin ma monitor ang progress namin." Stella answered it and I just nodded slowly. Alam ko na.

Puwede kaya rin ma determine kung anong Titan ang nasa dugo ko? I have the feeling alam ko na ang god or goddess blood ko. I can raise the dead or bring the dead back the life. It surely is Hades for sure but I won't tell them yet although Damien already knows my ability. I am sure he knows or doesn't he?

Looking around, the Battleground Gymnasium is ridiculously massive. Its space can fit up to thousands of people. Specifically as I've observed, it is designed for practicing battles. I can surely tell because I watch too many SCI-FI movies where they raise the bars and unleash holograms or any mechanisms that can change the whole area into a war zone for practice.

"We will start by Damien. Punta ka sa harapan." Commander Perses calls him up and Damien soon follows.

Damien stood a few feet away from us. Commander Perses presses something from the corner and it happens to be a part where there are the controls and panels to manoeuvre certain elements into gaining this aptitude test.

The commander smirked and later on, I was astonished to see that the whole arena changed. We were literally standing in some kind of ruins. I could see the sky so brown and mystified—almost as if storms surged from the planet Jupiter. I could see two ill-shapened pillars on each side of Damien. He was getting extremely serious. You couldn't see a hint of doubt on his face. He slowly raised his hands and to my surprise, lightning started to bolt out in madness. A very blazing yellow glow suddenly emitted around him and so did his eyes. It was the same glow that I saw when we got attacked at the alley way yesterday.
