"wait up!" wyatt called after me with a laugh. i was running, but i threw a smile over my shoulder at him.
in that moment, i ran into the street. i was too busy looking at wyatt and didn't see the car coming until it was too late.
"jae!" i heard wyatt scream, so different from just a moment before.
it was the last thing i ever heard.
