Chapter 4: Deyun, Village Of Fears

Nesko's POV

We waved at Queen Aesa as we left her castle. We are heading to the capital.

"Exousa..." Veronica said looking at the road ahead.

"is something wrong?" konei asked as she grabs her hand, looking worried.

"Oh.. it's nothing" veronica said.

"NO! it's not Nothing, you definitely seem nervous!" konei yelled.

"uhm.. a-ah" veronica couldn't reply.

"I know what's troubling you!" konei said with a smile.

"You're just mad because you couldn't snuggle big bro like I do!" konei said while grabbing my hand.

"W-WHAT!?" Veronica shouted and seems embarrassed, "I WOULD NEVER SNUGGLE WITH HIM" said veronica awkwardly.

I just smiled at both of them. "Uhm..?" I noticed veronica looking down, it seems that there is something on her mind, she just doesn't want to share. I know I will overstepping my boundaries and we just met and she tried to kill me, but seing somebody sad and lonely like that, me and konei cant ignore.

"Hey, veronica"I said as I move closer to her.

"c'mere" I grab veronica's shoulder pulling her towards me.

"w-w-what?! HUH!?" veronica said nervously.

"OH OH OH ME TOO ME TOO!" konei shouted and hug veronica from the other side.

"W-what's this all about nesko? KONEI?!" veronica said.

"it seems that something is troubling you, we wont ask though, but this is the least we could do, we always have each other's back ok?" I said and looked at veronica, it seems she is staring at me.

"uhmm.. even when you know.. you tried to kill me, it doesn't change the fact that you are lonely, and me and konei cant ignore that so don't be stubborn and rest" I said and looked away. She seems to have calmed down a bit and slept on my lap with her hugging konei. They seem to be tired from all that ruckus. "oh well" I said. "it's gonna be a long journey".

A few hours later...

We stoped at a nearby village, it seems normal it's no different from hiendin but there are only a few people outside. Veronica is with Konei, wandering around the village. The carriage should be ready in a few hours, because the axel broke.

"This is a problem" said the man handling our carriage.

"what is it?" I said.

"I couldn't find the right fit for the axel, I might need to change the other one as well, this may take a while."

"I see, well you also need to rest sir even for a little bit"

"Thanks I appreciate it"

I glanced at the village again and it seems that the people here are very cautious of everything around them.

"hey, what's with this village?" I asked the man handling our carriage.

"I don't have a lot of knowledge of this village but people said Deyun is the most peculiar village of all Exousa" the man said.

"Deyun?"I said in confusion.

"Yes deyun, it is a village far from exousa, it got its name from the mayor of the village Deyun Tesset was his name"

"I see, so where's the mayor now?" I asked

" well, the mayor died a couple of years ago, he got assassinated for treason with a certain village."
