Jeff slept outside that night, next to the fire pit. He never bothered starting a fire though, just slept out in the cold. I didn't know how to feel that morning, when I woke up with him next to me for the first time in a week. I should've been relieved, I wasn't.

I finished all my packing as the sun rose, and by the time the sun hint it's peek everything was ready. All our food sat in the back seat of the car, along with our other stuff. All I had that wasn't already in the car was my bag of clothes, which was packed and ready to go. I'd grab it when it was time to go.

The plan is to leave as soon as the sun begins to set, and then we're going to move towards Nevada. Jeff siphoned the gas from the car the two men came in, so our car now has a full tank of gas. We don't stop driving till we find a new hide out.

Jeff has spent the whole day at the edge of the trees, waiting. I watched from the fire pit, whilst enjoying the heat of the flames. I could tell he was watching me too, though he was sneakier about it than me. I debated going over there to wait with him, but I didn't know if he'd even let me. He isn't that far from me though, I could probably hear them talking if I listened hard enough.

Eventually Jeff walks over to me instead, sitting down on the other side of the fire. "He'll be here any minute, you should go inside."

     "Why can't I stay?" I ask him.

"Because," Jeff groans, "This is none of your business."

"So?" I question, "I'm stuck around you all day long anyway, might as well include me."

"No," He replies sternly, "Now go inside, or I'll drag you in there and tie you to a post."

Groaning, I get up from my seat and go inside. But I don't bother going far. I find a nearby window that's broke, so I can listen in without Jeff seeing me. For a long time, all I hear is the crackling fire. Eventually though, without even one footstep being heard, I hear Jeff speak to someone.

"Hey man," He says, "So what did you find out?"

I can hear the man he's talking to huff, "Jack-shit. This girl is completely untraceable."

"Well, what about who she is? Anything?" Jeff continues to question. The way he spoke, he sounded damn near desperate.

"The only person who seemed to know anything about her," The man says with a sigh, "was Lucifer."

     "Okay, and?" Jeff pushes.

"He wouldn't tell any details. He said it was best to just avoid her, and that if she's done something, he can't do anything about it," The other explains. I could feel Jeff's frustration from here.

"He has to do something, Jack," Jeff growls, "This isn't okay! This whole situation."

"Is the human here?" The man named Jack asks.

"In the house, probably pouting because I wouldn't let her be out here when you came," Jeff replies. I roll my eyes at his comment. I don't pout. "I've tried everything man. I can't even stand hurting her. Whoever that girl was, she did something to me. I know she caused this."

"And what did she do, Jeff?" Jack questions, "Make you fall for a human? So what? It's happened before to our kind. How do you even know that's make she did?"

"I did not fall for a human," Jeff growls.

"C'mon man," Jack says with a laugh, "Don't even try lying to me."

Jeff doesn't respond, and for a few moments there's nothing but the sounds of crackling fire. After a while, Jack talks again.

"You like her, big deal," He says, "That weird girl may or may not have caused it, but either way I don't think there's anything you can do about it. You just gotta accept it. Just accept her."
