Beating Heart (Neji X Reader)

Chapter 3

I was currently walking around the mall with my mom who seemed to have torn her ninja clothing like she likes to call it at her last mission. She wanted me to help her find a good pair of clothing because surprise surprise, I have good fashion sense.

I highly doubt I have a good fashion sense but it's my mother I can't argue with her, just like every Hyuga don't get in the bad side of one of us. Last time her clothes were red, this time I'm saying why not have it a dark shade blue like my father's clan? You know it's a good idea.

"How about something like this mother? It fits you perfectly." I said.

"You sure I'm skinny enough to fit in that."

"Your last clothing was a crop top, I think this is will fit you." She laughed and grabbed it and went to put it on.

I waited and felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw Neji, he seemed nervous about something.

"Hey Neji." I said with a smile and then looked down at the floor.

"Hey look, how about we become best friends and then let's see what happens in a couple of months. How about it?"

"Sure." We both shook hands and he left. He was with his team, they all waved at me and I did the same. My mother came out and she looked 12 years younger! I squealed and said it was perfect. She smiled and then said she will buy it.

My father was talking with the Hokage and I ran up to him. It's mainly me and mom, my father always seemed to be busy. But hey what can you say, he is one of the best shinobis here in Konoha.

"Papa!!" I ran up to him and as he looked at me he bent down and grabbed me, spin me around and gave me a kiss on the forehead.

"How's my baby girl doing." I smiled and giggled.

"I've been good." I then looked at the Hokage.

"Hello there Lord Hokage."

"Don't you have a mission to get to you little critter." I shook my head.

"Nope, Kurenai-sensei said she had something to do today." He nodded, my mother came and gave my father a small kiss before holding my hand.

"We were just talking about the Chunin exams." I poked my head at the side and looked at them.

"Chunin Exams?! Aren't those suppose to start up in like a month or so." They all nodded. I then heard Kiba and Hinata calling me saying that Kurenai-sensei wanted to speak to us.

"Well Lord Hokage, seems you were right." He just chuckled before I headed out.

We ran towards the way that Kurenai-sensei was. She was waiting there and I smiled before panting.

"Alright, good your all here, I have a mission picked out for us all." I sighed, another lame D-rank mission.

"And it's not a D-rank mission." My head shot up.

"Really?!" We all said in unison.

"We have a C-rank mission to go to! Pack up I'll tell you along the way what's it about." We all cheered before going our separate ways.

My parents were there, I told them the knews but they just stared at me.

"Are you sure your ready for a C-rank mission?" My father said.

"Papa, I'm ready! I'm the strongest in my team, well as Genin, and that means I would have to protect Hinata and Kiba! I have to go pack, I'll see you in a few days!" I packed a bag and my sword. As I headed out, my dad took me towards the gate where the others were at.

"Kurenai, I trust you to protect my baby girl on this mission." She nodded and I looked at him.

"Be careful, there's a lot of evil lurking outside these gates."

"I will papa, don't worry about me, I have my team with me, we will protect each other. Wish us luck papa, I'll see you in a few days!" We left the gates and begin just to walk in silence before Kurenai-sensei broke the silence.

"This mission is to protect this family from these guys, from what I have seen you all have been getting stronger each day. I have my two trackers and my strategist, so with that I feel like you guys will be ok, but along the way I will teach you chakra control." We nodded and then I stared at her again.

"Wait sensei, if we are protecting this family from these guys doesn't that make this mission more like a B-rank, I don't know, from what I have heard C-ranks aren't really so much about protecting someone mainly taking them to rescue." She then stared at me and thought to herself.

"Maybe it is, I don't know. I grabbed the mission without looking at the rank. But I know you three will do fine." I gulped and nodded.

I really hope she was right about it. I sighed and was hoping to get to a village soon I really have to eat!

I then looked around me and saw puddles. It hasn't rained in like forever, and it was really hot for puddles to even be around here. These guys then came out of nowhere from the puddles and I managed to kick one of them unconscious. Kurenai-sensei did the same with the other.

"What do you two want?!" I said to the guy activating my Byakugan.

"You 4 are going to the Hidden Sand Village?" We all said yes.

"Ha let's see if you make it out alive."

"Let's see if you make out of jail." I said and then here came the ANBU. We continued on walking, Hinata seemed scared about the mission, I held her hand and she just hugged my arm.

"Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you in a million of years." She smiled at me and soon Kiba had to ruin the cute moment.

"Can you hold my hand as well, I seem to be getting quite nervous myself." I rolled my eyes and kept on walking straight ahead.

As we made it to the first village we decided to rest up here and learn a bit of chakra control. As we did, she said something about climbing trees which was so easy. But soon came the part where she said only with your feet. I looked at how she did it and she did with ease.

We all tried with a different tree and all failed the first time but kept on trying. It took me about 7 tries to make it half way towards the top. I added a bit more chakra towards my feet before running up the tree and back down. I finally was able to do it, I did it 2 more times just to check it out and soon enough I was right it was a success.

I helped the others and they to finally were able to do it. I smiled at my team and our sensei was empress by how fast we learn. She also then helped us with throwing a kunai straight and fast. I was good with this already, because of my father. Soon enough I was like throwing 4 all in the targets. The others stayed there struggling but I couldn't really help so much.

While they were there, I just sat down in the little picnic Kurenai-sensei set up for all of us. We just talked and soon the others came all frustrated. We ate sandwiches and fruit. We shared little stories about our past and we learned many things from each other like how Kiba has like a dozen dogs but Akamaru is the one who has been with him since he was like 4 or so.

"Come on you two you got to practice on throwing a kunai far and in a fast pace." Both of them groaned while I just laughed they got up and went to practice.

After about 2 hours or so, they finally got the hang of it and started throwing them at a very fast pace. I was happy for them and we went to get a hotel. We got a room with 4 beds in it. I was so tired that I could just fall dead right now.

"Good night Team 8." I said.

"Night." They all said in unison.
