                (Nate's POV)

It was like you could hear a pin drop.

No one knew what to say or how to say it. But it was like realization smacked Eva in the face.

          "Son?" My father questioned.

Eva looked up at all of us as she cradled the boy in her arms.

"We must discuss this in the office." With that she walked up the stairs with Adam and Natalia by her side.

We all followed her in the office and watched as she set the kid down in the chair.

She lifted her hands into the air and we watched as she used her powers to seal the room air tight.

"What was that?" My father asked.

"It was a protection spell because what I am about to tell you must stay in this room."

She picked the kid back up as he started to nod off into slumber.

He closed his eyes as she placed him on the couch. Adam took off his jacket and handed it to Eva who then put it on the kid and used it as a blanket.

She sighed and turned and looked at us.

"The night I left, I left because I knew none of you were safe not even me. I knew I needed to figure out who and what I was. But in order to do that, I needed to leave. I knew you wouldn't let me leave so I had to escape. I used Ethan and Xavier because I knew you would choose them over me. And I only hoped it would make you all hate me so that you wouldn't come looking for me."

She said as she looked at us.

"The one thing I was allowed when I was with Jo, were books. I remembered reading about a town in Oregon which told tails of witches who trained and mastered their magic."

"You consorted with witches Evangeline?" My father asked in a disapproving tone.

"Yes because they were my own source of control." She said glaring at my father.

"There I met a women, Tiana. She was kind to me when I got to town and offered me shelter. I wasn't going to deny my only chance at survival so I accepted. Then one night I went for a stroll in the dark. I hadn't known she was a witch until I saw her revive her dead roses with a swish of her hand. It was amazing and she was exactly what I needed. So I asked for help."

Everyone looked at her either surprised or ashamed but I didn't blame them. Having any contact with witches is against the law and is punishable by death.

"But what I needed from Tiana she could not give. My powers was stronger than hers. She knew a lot of spells but not the spells I needed. She didn't know how I could control my powers but offered her advice instead. Over time I became close to her. She was my friend and so was her mate."

"Her mate?" Alex asked.

"A courageous man. Loyal to those who were loyal to him. He would have done anything for either of them. I respected that most about him."
