Chapter 39

(Eva's POV)

I leaned up against the tree , watching him concentrate.

He bent down and lunged forward to trap his prey only to fall face first in the dirt.

He growled at the nothingness that was before him and I shook my head watching the squirrel run up the tree.

"You were too eager."

I said as I walked over to him , lifting him off the ground.

"I was not eager!" he said and I could feel the anger radiating off of him.

"You were eager. The squirrel heard you before it saw you. Had you been patient and quieter you would have caught it."

He sighed and smiled.

"I guess you're right." he said as he looked at the tree where the squirrel had gone and vanished.

"Come, we must leave."

His smile turned to a frown and he shook his head.

"We're leaving again? I don't want to, I actually like it here mom."

I bent down and shook my head.

"I need to go take care of something in your uncle Nate's territory, Go pack a bag."

He sighed a breath of relief and nodded his head.

He followed him and made sure he packed everything. I mind linked Adam and telling him I would be away for a couple of hours.

I trust he could handle the pack while I was gone. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about the love square that he's in.

Getting into the car we drove over to Nate's territory.

We jumped out the car and spotted Danny.

"Not that I'm not happy to see you but what are you doing here?" Danny said as I walked onto the perimeter.

"Max was eager to learn that he had cousins so he's been wanting to get to know them a little more." I said looking in the trees.

Danny looked confused but that's only because Danny couldn't see him.

"That's amazing but where is he?"

Right on cue , Max jumped from the tree only to have Danny catch him.

Max had shifted so Danny was holding a small pup.

Max licked his face and Danny laughed.

" I didn't even hear you! You're so lucky I got some fast reflexes cause your mom would've killed us both if I dropped you."

"Come on , Xavier and Ethan are inside training" with that we followed Danny up to the top level floor where the small gym was.

   "Will you make sure that he gets there safely?" I asked.

     Danny nodded his head and took Max with him to meet the boys so they could all train together.

    I didn't know how to feel knowing that we might not stay.

       Max is getting attached when he shouldn't.

    Turning the corner I ran into the one person I wasn't expecting to see.

   Tingles ran from my arm and up neck making my face flush.
