Case #2
Sky answered that their workplace has an arbitrator.
“Based on the sins they had committed.”
Natasha was confused by Sky’s vague answer.
“Sinners? They can even pass to Paradise?” She asked. Sky laughed at her question.
“That’s a stupid question to ask, Nat. Humans are sinners. Natatawang sambit nito.
“So, how come? What’s the basis? May kailangan bang test na malagpasan?”
“No,” Sky shook her head. “Pero may pinagbabasehan sila. To explain it further or for starters like you... There are three kinds sins. The first one is the forgivable or light sins. Souls who commit those kind of sins can pass to Heaven. The second one is the unforgivable sins. Souls who commit murder, adultery or any kind of seven deadly sins. Souls who broke the rules in Ten Commandments. Those souls goes to Hell.”
“And the third one?” Natasha interjected. Hindi niya maisip kung ano ang pangatlo.
“Souls who commit the unforgivable, worst and forbidden sin of all— ” There was a dramatic paused before Sky continues.
“Suicide.”
Natasha’s jaw clenched at Sky’s words. Unang pumasok sa isip niya si Parrish.
“Suicide?” Natasha repeated.
“U-huh. Suicide. People who took their own life goes to Purgatory, and they—we became a reaper.” She explained.
“But I thought... Purgatory is a place for souls to purify them from their sins or to undergo a temporary punishment.”
“Exactly,” Sky snapped her fingers. “This is our temporary punishment. Hanggang kailan ito matatapos? It depends. Nobody knows.”
Sky smiled a little.
“No.
Tormented and distorted.
Natasha wondered if Parrish took his own life because he was tormented and distorted.
Siguro may dahilan sila, siguro may matindi silang pinagdaanan. Maybe they were never saved.
But Parrish was a different case...
“Maybe, that’s the reason why the Almighty erased your memories. Mayhap, He understood your pain and suffering— that He understood your decision. He gave us the rights to choose between right and wrong. But at the same time, he was quite dissapointed because you choose the wrong one. That is the possible reason why He turned you into a reaper. Because He wants you to repent for your sins while guiding the souls to their destination. He wants you to learn how human’s life work if you choose the right decision. He was giving you a chance to correct your mistake even in the Afterlife.”
