'God....fuck these dreams...' Yato angrily thought as he threw his pillow on top of his face. After walking Hiyori from school yesterday he couldn't stop thinking about what had happened at the cherry blossom tree. He also noticed how he has been having these dreams about Hiyori and him since they were kids and at the end, he would hear a strange and familiar voice telling him to wake up but this time he heard a giggle and someone calling out for him.

'Who could it be..? Ugh! These dreams are getting annoying.' He threw the pillow off of him and checked the time.

5:56 AM

He sighed as he threw his feet off the edge of the bed and got up to stretch. Time for another day of school. What was today? Tuesday... Not even close to Friday just yet. Yato needed a break from school. As he finished stretching, he grabbed his towel and left for the showers to start off his day.

Yato ran downstairs to have a light and quick breakfast. His mother must still be asleep since she works late at night. Yato decided to fix her up some breakfast before eating himself. Grabbing some essentials and quickly cooking he made his mother three pancakes with syrup drizzling over it, a little square butter at the top, a dash of whipped cream, and some cut up strawberries.

He smiled at his work as he placed a cover over it so his mother could be surprised along with some flowers at the side and a small note on how much he loves her. Feeling satisfied with his work he got to eat his own breakfast which was plain cereal which he didn't mind compared to the breakfast his mother would wake up to eat soon.

After washing his plate, he headed for the door where he puts his shoes and taps the front of his shoe to make sure they're on properly and grabbed his bag. He turned back to look in his empty and quiet house as he whispered,

"I'm off to school mom.."

Back when he was younger and before his mother took on longer hours at work he would tell her that he was off to school and she would send him off with a tight hug and a kiss on the forehead. But, now, he never sees her in the morning anymore. He sighed and opened the door, closing it behind him as he headed off to Hiyori's house.

After knocking on the door several times it finally opened and revealed a blanket clad Hiyori who's body seemed slumped over.

 "He-hey Yato...I can't make it...."

She paused as she turned away to cough and faced Yato again,

"...to school today. I'm....I'm really sorry."

There was a pang of hurt inside Yato's heart but it quickly passed so he could answer the frail and sick girl.

"That's all right Hiyori. Get some rest. I'll bring you any homework that we're assigned today. I'll come by later to be there for you."

Hiyori weakly smiled and it hurt Yato because even when she's sick she still puts on her smile. Yato wanted to hug her and hold her close. Be there for the sick girl but he had classes to attend and he had to let her rest.

He didn't want to say anything as he turned away and just simply waved at the girl who waved back and headed back inside as she closed the door. With a trudge in his heart, Yato made off to school, on his own this time without the beautiful female by his side.

School seemed to last forever without his childhood crush there to help pass the time. Time meant nothing to Yato when Hiyori was with him; she made time slow down around him but with just the two of them, time could pass in a blink of an eye. He really wanted to be with Hiyori at the moment and take care of her in any way possible to make her feel better. Yato would stroke her hair to ease her sickness and possibly kiss her forehead to relieve the fever she may have. Being too caught in his daydream, Yato failed to notice a certain blonde male walking up to his desk as he slammed his hand on the desk awakening the dark haired boy.

"Hey! What's your problem?"

Yato spoke in anger from the sudden intrusion of his Hiyori daydream. The blonde male just clicked his tongue as if frustrated and grabbed for Yato's collar as he pulled him close.

"I don't like the fact that you're close to Hiyori. I saw the way how she looked worried about you that day when we were supposed to have lunch together but she just had to run off to look for you. Listen here, stay away from Hiyori. She's my one and only chance at feeling loved."

The unknown boy released Yato's collar and looked at him for a response. Yato was taken aback but his eyes changed into fury as he got up; he turned out to be taller than the blonde boy but it didn't seem to affect him.

"Hiyori has been my friend since we were kids and you just met her so you back off. You can have others to love you such as other friends or your parents."

The blonde's eyes widen and he bit his lip as his eyes looked more furious.

"Don't you ever talk about my parents.. I will kill you if you mention them again.."

His voice seemed cold so Yato didn't pry more. The boy turned to walk off but stopped and looked over his shoulder.

"The name's Yukine. Never forget that and stay away from Hiyori."

He turned back and walked out of the classroom just as the bell rang signaling that class is going to begin.

Yato sat down and stared down as he thought, 'Just who is this kid? Why does he need to be loved by Hiyori? And why does the topic of his parents bother him?' He had many questions but all he knows is that he has a new enemy; he has an enemy who is threatening to take his crush away from him.
