We've spent a week in Paris now and as much as I love the city, it'll be fun to get out of here and go to the Greek Islands. Mum and I are planning on having mother-daughter bonding time when we get there so that should be fun. We're leaving first thing tomorrow morning on an air plane! Father says that the distance between here and there is to big for us to apparate.

Anyways, I've written Fred, George, and Ginny every day with pictures and they did the same. I owled Hermione and found out that she was coming to Paris the day I was leaving! She gets off the flight I'm going to get on so we're going to hang out and talk for thirty minutes until my plane leaves.

Father's gotten worse with the "punishments" and what's worse is that I've gotten better at taking them. The curse feels like there's one thousand knives punching into your skin, drawing blood, and then allowing hippogriffs to feast on your open carcass. But I've held back my screams; he takes the curse off after I don't scream for a bit.

My hair's grown longer; as it was mid back a few months ago it is now an inch lower than my butt. Mother says I've gotten taller too, you can see it when Draco and I are standing side by side, I'm almost as tall as him.

I was in my room, trying to regain my sanity after another "punishment" period with father when I noticed the daily prophet on my nightstand. I lumped over to my bed and sat down, picking up the prophet and gasping as I read the headline.

MASS MURDERER SIRIUS BLACK IS THOUGHT TO BE PLANNING ESCAPE FROM AZKABAN

This intrigued me a bit, if he isn't a Death Eater then why would he be trying to escape? So I read on:

Sirius Black, age thirty-four, was arrested on the night Harry Potter triumphed over He-who-must-not-be-named nearly twelve years ago.

On that night, Sirius Black killed thirteen muggles and Peter Pettigrew. He was sentenced to Azkaban for life without a trial as all they could find on the street was the finger of Peter Pettigrew and the bodies of the muggles.

Two of the muggles included Steven Nightshade and Violette Nightshade, parents to a newborn baby who were out for a stroll. (More about these two on page six.) Their baby, the now infamous Samantha Nightshade who recently helped save Ginny Weasley from the Chamber of Secrets, was found at the hospital with Death Eaters surrounding her. The aurors quickly arrested them and the child was taken into custody under the Ministry of Magic. (More on Samantha Nightshade on page seven.)

Sirius Black was believed to be a Death Eater but sources say that he never admitted it and still has not today.

Wow, well my mother sure as hell has A LOT of explaining to do. If my parents were killed on that day then that would mean that what I see whenever I think of my parents is fake.

I am so glad I'm sitting down.

"Squeaky!" I called and my elf appeared. "Please tell my mother that I wish to speak with her, it's urgent." I said and she went away then returned only to tell me that my mother was coming.

"Samantha dear, is everything alright?" mum asked entering my room and closing the door. I never realized really, how beautiful my mother actually was. Her jet black hair had a blonde streak on part of her bangs and although she's nearing her fourties, you wouldn't be able to tell. The way she held herself told me that while she was concerned about me, she was also afraid of something.

"Mum, the prophet article from today, is it true?" I asked and she gave me a quizzical look. "I mean about my parents; mum, every time I think about them I have a flashback to the night they died. Only, the prophet says they were killed by Sirius Black, not by a group of random Death Eaters." She sighed and sat down next to me, folding her hands in her lap and keeping her gaze locked on them.

"Sweetie, the article is true, Sirius Black did kill your parents the night you were born. The memory you see, are made of bits and pieces of that night from your memory and another's. Your god father gave you that memory so you wouldn't be in any type of danger as you grew up. But you're a smart girl and you were bound to crack the code sometime or another." She exhaled and ran a hand through her hair, clearly trying to calm herself down.

"Mum, what type of danger? Was there going to be danger? What do you know?" I asked and she shook her head.

"No, no, I've told you more than I was supposed to. When you meet your god father you can ask him and he will tell you. For now, get to bed, we leave at eight tomorrow and it's already nine thirty." Mum said standing up and finally looking at me. "I'm really sorry Samantha, I wish I could tell you everything but it's not my place. I hope you understand."

Mum kissed my forehead and gave me a hug then left, most likely to tell Drake to go to bed. I sighed and stood up to change into my pajamas, wobbling a bit since the curse hadn't completely worn off yet. I changed and laid in my bed, thinking about what I'd read and about what mum said. Maybe I can decode a bit of the "memory" to find out more. I closed my eyes and thought of the "memory" trying to break part of the spell as the "memory" went on.

I was finally able to break and decode a piece of the "memory" and when I did I was shocked. Instead of my parents standing in front of my crib and protecting me, they weren't there. Instead I was alone in a small hospital crib in a small hospital room and next to me there was a man.

"Oh Sammy, if only I could have saved them, if only I could have stopped him. You would never have to be alone when you're older. If I wasn't who I am I could stop this, I could keep you with me, but even then you still wouldn't be safe.

"I just wish I could be this shell of a man about to watch his on god daughter be taken away from him. I just wish I was actually useful!" The man was sobbing I noticed and when I turned to him I still couldn't see his face, he was blurred.

"One day, I promise you, one day, we will be a family. I know you'll never truly have one which is why I promise you, I will be your family." the man sobbed holding my tiny hand in his.

"It's time, you know it is, give me the child. I can assure you she won't be hurt." The same woman from the fake memory said. She was blurred but she wasn't a Death Eater, although she looked like a fake ministry worker.

"Does it really have to be this way 'Cissa? You have the power to make sure it isn't yet you don't." the man pleaded.

"You know I can't, they are both gone now and while everyone thinks it's for good, I know better." She said walking over and picking me up. I started to tear up and whimper, about to cry and the man stuck a purple binky in my mouth and I stopped.

"I know little one, if I could rewind time I would but I can't." the lady said sadly turning away from the once again crying man. She took out of her pocket, a small purple and black necklace and attached it around my neck.

"I do know, however, what your fate is little one so I say to you, do not forget me. Remember that we shall always be near you and I will find a way to protect you." the lady whispered. Once the memory finished I blacked out and fell asleep.
