CHAPTER ONE
Aisling’s P.O.V.
“Hurry up Azie!” Riley yelled at me while still running.
We had both decided to go ‘shopping’ and were currently trying to escape the security guards.
Riley and me went separate ways with different security guards still after us, planning on meeting up at the apartment. Aren’t those guards supposed to stop at the doors of the mall? Well, they were a good amount of feet behind me anyway so it didn’t matter. They really should hire security guards that are more in shape than these ones.
Turning down the alley I bumped into someone. Out of instinct, I grabbed out my gun from the back of my pants, flicking the safety off without any hesitation, and pointed it at them.
“Whoa chica, calm down. It’s only me,” Santiago said while slightly laughing. I could see Radyn and Aaron right behind him with smiles on their face as well.
“Damn S, you scared the crap out of me! Do you always have to be hiding in the alleys!” I yelled back at him while flicking my safety back on and tucking my gun back in my pants. I never leave home without it. You never know what’s gonna happen to you while you’re shopping at the mall.
“Nah, I do it just to scare you. Now who are you running from?” he asked with amusement on his face.
“Fat security guard from the mall,” I said pointing back to the guard who was bending over to catch his breath. He should’ve given up when he still had the chance.
“What'd ya take?”
Without hesitation I pulled out the jackets and underwear from the backpack that I was carrying.
“Hmm, maybe you should show us how those underwear look on you later. I wouldn’t mind at all if you needed a second opinion,” Aaron said while winking at me. I just glared at Aaron and flipped him the finger while turning my attention back to Santiago.
"Well we have some business that we need to take care of, so I'll see you later chica," S told me. I told him that we have a meeting this Thursday and to not forget like the last time. He just smirked at me remembering how I had to cover his ass from not being at the meeting because he was fucking some whore. I rolled my eyes at him and left them to do their business.
“Ri! I'm back” I called when I got back to Riley’s and mine apartment.
“Hey, Azie, can you come into the kitchen for a moment,” Ri said.
I walked into the kitchen, but as soon as I did, I regretted.
“Hello sweetheart,” he said with a smile on his face, “I just wanted to drop in and make sure you’re still alive.”
I leaned against the counter next to me, crossing my arms, and raising an eyebrow.
“Well, hello daddy dearest. As you can see, I am fine. Now if you would be so kind as to leave my flat then I would greatly appreciate it,” I said back while walking out of the kitchen and rolling my eyes.
“Actually, I wanted to tell you something,” he said following me out the kitchen.
Stopping and turning around to face him I gave him my ‘this better be good cause you’re wasting my time’ look.
“Your brothers are coming to stay with you,” my dad said without looking at me.
“No,” I told him back firmly. I may not hate my dad, but I’m not on good terms with him either. He scratches my back and I scratch his. It’s more like we’re business partners than a father and daughter.
“I wasn’t asking you Aisling, I was telling you. Your brothers are not going to be able to get into any hotels because I will not have them disturbing any of my guests that are staying there. They are also not going to be staying with me and your moth-“
“Step-mother,” I cut in before he could finish.
“Step-mother," he corrected himself, "She said that she would not have criminals inside her house.”
“Pretty ironic since she’s married to the biggest criminal in the U.S. and doesn’t even know it,” I said while rolling my eyes.
“Haha yeah,” my father laughed humorlessly, “She said it was her house. Who the hell does she think she is? I mean I’m the one who's paying for the house, and the clothes that she buys, and all of the fucking jewelry. She’s so damn annoying,” he said, out of breathe while shaking his head.
He never liked her. Heck, he doesn’t like any other ladies besides my mother, but my mother bailed on all of us when I was 7. She said she couldn’t be with him cause he "wasn't as exciting in the bedroom as he was before." I don't know what she's up to now, or if she's even alive, but I don't care either.
“Whatever. Just make sure you get back everything that she bought with your money if you're gonna leave her. That stuff can sell for more on the streets, but they're pretty worthless if an angry lady breaks it all ,” I told him knowingly.
“Good thinking, I’ll have my men on it right now,” he said with a pleased look upon his face while grabbing his cell phone out and walking back into the kitchen at the same time Ri was coming out.
“Why didn’t you tell me you had brothers?” Ri asked me seeming very curious.
“Cause they aren’t important,” I told her with a glare.
“Well they’re staying with us, right?”
“Yes they are, and they should be here any minute,” my father answered for me.
“No they’re not going to stay here because your wife is moving out, which means that you have more than enough room in your enormous mansion. Why are they even here?” I asked him.
“Your brothers may have gotten into some trouble,” he told me.
“Just take them back to your place.”
“Aisling-Marie, they are staying with you and that is final,” he said with a serious face.
There was a loud knock that echoed throughout the now quiet apartment. Ri looked excited at the thought of meeting new people and my dad looked irritated that I had grabbed his arm to keep him from opening the door. I let go of his arm and gave him a slight nod with my poker face on, at least I had hoped because on the inside I was freaking out.
Calm down. You can handle drug dealers, knife fights and getting shot. Why are you freaking about your brothers coming to stay with you then? I already knew the answer to that question. Lost in my thoughts I didn’t notice that all of my brothers came into the room. I stared back at them as they stared back at me. You could feel the tension in the air. They all had smiles on their faces while I kept my face emotionless.
“Hey sis,” they all said happily to me at different times.
All of those feelings from that night came at me at once. Anger, sadness, confusion, worry, but most of all, hatred. They all waited for me to reply and I did.
“I will never be your sister,” I told them still emotionless. The smiles from their faces fell as I walked past them, out the door, and away with my car.
