Cheng narrow his eyes on her. Seeking something, anything.
Jay glare back.
She didn't budge. She never budge.
That's the first reason why she attract him. She scared, irritated, mad, come one thousand and one mix feeling she have, when somebody seek her attention, she will never budge.
She will wait, wanting to listen. Dare herself to trust the other person not going to hurt her.
Hurt her heart.
"I thought you going to run away,"
"From you?" she ask.
Cheng nod.
She stay silent for a moment.
"I wish I can," she say as though it was a whisper. Cheng frown, a slight anger slip in, feeling something stab through his heart, piercing it to pieces and trample over it.
She want to leave. And she think Cheng is the wall prevent her to get her freedom.
But he didn't mad, no, he can't be mad.
Those eyes never lies.
Which is always soften his heart although what she say always break it harshly.
She always thought saying the truth is a form of respect, even though it will kill you apart.
She show him a new world.
Respect. Trust. Love.
Cheng cleared his throat. He lean back. His eyes never break the glare.
Silent.
One minute.
Two minutes.
Three minutes.
Any minute now.
"Guys ~," Michael can't stand the silent and get slap on his back by Zack and Lidy who sit beside him. He auch and pout and slightly stamp his feet like a kid.
Adam and Lena shush him to knock his conscious to stay silent. Even they're scared of making a breathing sound.
But of course, being Michael he is, once again, he try to break the tension. But this time, he has no luck.
Jay didn't flinch. As she knows if she move she will lose the battle without have the opportunity to fight. She cleared her throat.
"Can I go?" she tick her index finger on the table, showing she's nervous for the battle.
"No," Cheng answer almost immediately.
Silent for a while.
"You should know better...," she try to strike.
But Cheng cut her immediately.
"I know,"
"Then stop being stubborn," she lean slightly to the table.
"I'm not. You the one being stubborn," Cheng straighten his back ready to fight.
"I'm not. I have already pass my study here, there's nothing I have to do and you should...,"
"I'm. Here," Cheng growl.
'Oh no. He's mad,' they all think the same.
Jay swallow her saliva twice.
"You. Say. You. Won't. Leave," Cheng's sharp jaw cleared as he clench his teeth and his just hand fist on the table. His vein popping out of his arm and neck and his eyes turn mad as he glare intensely into Jay's eyes, remind her of her promise.
"I know," she whisper. Her eyes almost begging him to understand her.
"Then you know better that you can't,"
"It's just for two weeks,"
Cheng hit the table hard they even heard the crake sound. The boys flinch on their chair while the girls let out a small scream. All of their hand are at the edge of the table to avoid them fall from their sit from the sudden move.
Except Jay. Of course.
"It's f*cking two weeks!"
"You're not like this before," Jay lean her back to her chair. She pout a little while crossing her arm on her chest, not believing it way to hard to win this battle.
"That's because I don't know you're mine,"
"I thought you claim me yours before you even know the truth,"
"I don't know you're completely mine,"
She sigh.
She turn her head to the audience which make them jump a little at the sudden glare.
"Will you sit there until the sun rise tomorrow?" Jay ask. They shook their head unitedly and reluctantly stand up excuse themselves to leaves.
After a bump of fist with every single one of them - except Cheng - and a few word of good luck and see you tomorrow, they leave them both at the house, giving them space to have a smooth talk.
Silent for a while.
Cheng mumble something under his breath, stand up and stride toward the sofa and sit there watching TV. Refuse to continue the argument.
Jay slowly stand from her sit and sit beside Cheng. She tangle her index finger with his little finger, playing with it for a while as she pout, sulking.
"Please...," she's whisper, begging, with all her heart.
Cheng look at her, take a good moment to absorb her angelic pout and desperate frown. He then let out his hand and pull Jay's waist to make her sit on his lap.
"No baby you can't. I'm sorry," and lean his face to her to catch her lips and kiss her a sorry kiss that she weakly accept, defeatedly.
They pull away and Cheng snuggle into Jay's neck and breath her fragrance. It's calm him very much, it's like a dream. The way she stroke his hair make him feel.... loved.
"It's feel real," he said just above a whisper.
"What?" She ask with the same.
"That you love me,"
"I am," she kiss his forehead.
"Long before you love me," the words that slip from her mouth make him grin.
Absolutely mine. Alone.
