Chapter Two
“Back to school”
I was inside the classroom sitting in the middle of Ian and Paula. We were having our class in Ecotourism subject and the three of us were bored to death we didn’t even understand a thing or two our professor is saying. I bet all of our classmates were too.
I grabbed a pen and started to draw. Suddenly, Ian and Paula looked at what I am drawing.
They know I’m good at this when I’m getting kind of bored especially when I don’t like the professor. When I finished the drawing, we all laughed and it caught Ms. Grey’s attention.
“Would you mind sharing it to the class so we could all have a good laugh?” she said irritably.
We stopped and looked at each other. The whole class was looking at the three of us, considering we were seated in the front. Some were smiling and thankful that we cut Ms. Grey’s nonsense lecture.
“We we’re just... uh. Talking about the. Uhm. The quiz we had earlier. Paula got the lowest grade and she’ll treat us lunch” I said with a blank face trying not to laugh while hiding my drawing.
Knowing the three of us being the “good” guys in school, Ms. Grey let it pass and continued her discussion. We chuckled when she looked away.
Almost an hour has passed and we were dying to get out of the room when I heard something interesting Ms. Grey said. I paid attention to the things she said next.
“Since our subject is ecotourism, our class will have an ecotourism activity which will serve as your final exam”
The room was filled with yahoos and woohoos everywhere.
“Silence will you please? I am not done talking yet.” She added. People whooping all around the room hushed and listened to her.
“You’re going to pick your activity between Trekking and Scuba diving….”
After discussing the two activities, all of us were already excited and talked about what things we will bring. Paula, Ian and I chose trekking because scuba diving requires us to give up 4 Sundays to have training.
That wouldn’t work for us because we have a lot of things to do and Sunday is the only rest we have and besides, we don’t want to be exposed in too much sun although it’s kinda fun and unusual for us.
“Crap.” Ian cracked. Paula and I looked at him with bewilderment.
“What?” we asked, almost in unison.
“I forgot I have a conference for a week during our trekking! I might not be able to join you guys I’m sorry”
“Oh, what a loser you are!” I teased in a voice with pity followed by a little laughter after.
“At least I’m not weak like the others” he whispered as a matter-of-factly, eyes pointing in Paula’s direction.
Paula rolled her eyes and kept quiet for a moment. Ian and I didn’t want to push it further because we know her too much that if we do so, she’ll be in bad mood for the rest of the afternoon.
We always tease her weak because whenever we play Left 4 dead after school (which is about running from and killing zombies) she either puke or go straight home because it makes her head ache that’s why Ian and I always end up playing till late at night before going home.
He just smirked and checked his planner to write down all his schedules then he realized something. He looked up to face us.
“Wait, I still can go with you on our rappelling day” he beamed.
“Whatever! You still are a loser!” I said laughing hard.
This is so going to be fun! I thought. Ian and I always make fun of everything. And when I say everything, I mean every little thing we do that’s why we are so fond of each other. The only thing that stops us sometimes is the stomach-ache we have after laughing hard in long matter of time.
