The morning traffic usually never bothered me, but it was unbearable today. The noises gave me a headache, the summer heat made me sweat despite the air conditioning in the cab, and my nerves were getting the best of me today. I was a total wreck. It was my first day on the job and I was already twenty minutes late. Genevieve was going to think so little of me. This was not the impression I wanted to leave on her so early on in whatever relationship we shared between us.
Damn you New York traffic!
One of the articles featured on Femme's new wedding issue was that of different venues that the wedding reception could be held on. I, along with the team provided to me by Genevieve, were going to be taking photos of models in wedding gowns and suits showcasing the beauty of these venues. They were supposed to be the best venues in New York to have your wedding reception in. I thanked the heavens that Claire wasn't with me in times like these.
Thirty minutes into traffic and I finally reached the place called The Glass Houses located at the 21st floor of the Chelsea Arts Tower. The name of the place really said it all; windows lined the room from roof to floor. The space was modern, exquisite and expensively fancy. But the view of the city however, was one to die for. It makes you remember that beyond the chaotic nature of the city, it was a beauty disguised as a beast.
I looked around the room before I finally spotted Genevieve. She stood by one of the windows looking zealously at the view before her. There was that flicker in her eyes that I saw just a day before. It made me want to go over there and hug her from behind. I don't know why Madison thinks she's hard-hearted. It seemed to me like she simply needed someone to give her love.
Why in the world did that make her even more beautiful?
It was the first time I saw her outside of her work attire. She dressed very casually today in a pair of faded skinny jeans, a white, silk blouse that had the most sensual neckline and a pair of nude flats. She let her hair down today, but tucked some of the lose strands behind her ear.
I walked over to her cautiously, as if not wanting to ruin the moment she was so engrossed in. The scene before my eyes was so picturesque that I instinctively pulled out my camera and shot a couple of photos. She noticed my reflection on the glass window and turned around to face me with a smile that looked forced.
She looked like she was trying very hard to hide something.
'You're late', she scolded warmly.
'Crazy traffic this morning', I explained.
'Well, you're lucky the models are still doing their make-up. I want to use the sunlight as much as possible though, so we need to work double time. You have all the equipment you need here, but if you feel there's anything missing that you really need let Monica or Madison know and they'll get it for you. There's a fresh pot of coffee and food over there at the table so you'll have all the energy source you need', Genevieve said as she took me on a mini tour around the place.
The skinny jeans were doing wonderful things to her body. If only I could sneak her in to the bathroom... I could do wonderful things to everything that's underneath them. Or maybe she'd be doing wonderful things to me.
'Killian?', she called out when I didn't respond right away.
'Noted', I said, and fifteen minutes later we were off to work.
And it has been that way for the next week, and we actually worked through the weekend too. Monica, whom I instantly clicked with, seemed like she was making all the important decisions but a simple nod or a head shake from Genevieve sealed the deal. We worked through at least another five venues and it was all work and no play. Some models were easy to work with and others were total divas and a pain in the ass.
