Chapter 2

“Julia get out of bed already, I need you to go and get the mail please!”

“Kay mom I’m coming.” I threw on a pair of hello kitty pajama bottoms and my fuzzy pink slippers and went off to go and get the mail. It was finally Saturday and I didn’t want to go anywhere so I would probably end up staying in these clothes all day until about 3.

I pressed the down button on the elevator and it let up green instead of the regular yellow light which was weird, their probably just replacing the old lights in there I guess. When I stepped on the elevator and pressed the L button which stood for lobby, the only thing is when I pressed the button the elevator started shaking and it felt like I was free falling.

I was absolutely terrified, I couldn’t make out a scream because it was pointless I was going to probably die. With this thought I started to cry I never even lived a good life, I would never be able to see my mom again and she would never see me.

It had at least been a good 5 minutes now and now I was just plain creped out I have been going at super speed downward and I know for a fact that I’m not in the apartment building anymore I was only on the fifth floor so I should have stopped a long time ago, what in the hell is going on.

Ding

The elevator suddenly came to a stop just like it would have if I was home, but I wasn’t home at all as I stepped off the elevator it looked like I was in some type of fancy hotel.

It had a chandlers that hung from the ceilings that were brighter and much more delicate looking than any I have ever seen before. The carpet was a deep maroon red with gold designs on it that looked like it was made in the 1600. Where in the hell was I.

I heard the sound of stilettoes hitting the carpet floor with a dull constant pace. I turned around to see a beautiful woman who was smiling at me like a creep.

“Hi, my name is Jamie and I’ll be your guide while you’re staying here in the underworld.”

“Does this mean I’m dead?”

“Oh honey your far from it don’t you know what you’re here for.”

I slowly shook my head

“Hun you’re in the Immortality Games, now hurry up we have to show you the room, you need to meet your partner, and we have to get you ready for the opening ceremonies.”

“What is the immortality games?”

“Well it’s were a 5 pairs of demigods are chosen to compete in games to live forever.”

“Wait so you’re telling me that I’m a demigod “

“Yes, I am”

“But that can’t be possible my mom’s normal and so is my dad, right!”

“Sorry but you’re Dad isn’t normal and neither are you, your dad he’s- , never mind he’ll tell you later.”

I just followed her through the immaculate halls of what I assume is an underworld hotel of some sort. We reached the elevator and I got scared again, that was the thing that lead me here in the first place. But as earlier the elevator was weird it was all glass and was controlled by a tall slender looking man.

“HI Greg, please take us to floor 20.”

Jamie and Greg had some light conversation the whole ride up, while I just sat there with my eyes close to try and take this in.

1.       I was a demigod

2.       I was in the underworld

3.       I was in the demigod

4.       I was doing all of this in hello kitty pj’s

A few minutes later we arrived to the room I was going to be staying in, Jamie swiped a card that opened the door. If I thought the lobby was beautiful, then the room was stunning.

 It was all white with light wood furniture scattered along the room. It looked more like an apartment if you ask me. I felt my eyes stinging just thinking about apartments because it made me think of home.

Home

The only place I wanted to be right now, with my mom and books and I missed everything about it.

“Julia, I will be back here at 6 to get you ready for the games your partner should be a arriving here in any second, now just make yourself at home.” And in a flash she was gone just like that.

I walked down the small hallway to a door that said Julia by it and walked in. The room was perfect it had all these cool pictures on it that said all of my favorite quotes and all my favorite pictures on it. I walked further into the room and saw a note on the bedside table

Dear Julia,

If you are reading this you have been put into the Immortality Games. I would first off like to say that I love you so much and I’m sorry for not telling you more about your father. They have told me I cannot personally tell you about it and that if you are there he will tell you everything you need to know. Just know that I love you so much sweet heart and that you can do anything you put your mind to.

I saw my tear drops start to hit the page in an inconsistent pattern on the piece of paper. I read the letter over and over again and I can’t stop the tears, everything was so confusing. Why was I chosen I didn’t want immortality , I wanted to be home with my mom and just have her hug me and tell her I love her so much.

 I went to the bathroom to get some tissue and I passed the mirror I looked a mess, red puffy eyes from all of the crying and an even paler face than what I already had.

I washed my face in an attempt to look half decent.

I heard the door open and shut and went to the living room to find the least expected person.

Andrew.

“Hi-I Andrew.”

“Hey, what exactly are we doing here?”

“Were in some type of immortal games and I’m not really sure why.”

Jamie then opened the door to the room.

“Hey guys, I’m glad you both could make it but there are some people who need to talk to you and there waiting for you so hurry along. “

We immediately followed here out of the door and went to the elevator down to another floor.

“Okay Julia go in this room, Andrew follow me this way.”

I slowly twisted the knob of the door and pushed it open softly to see a man that looked like he was in his early 30’s.

“Hi Julia, please have a seat anywhere you like” he looked very noble his voice was very wise and for some reason very comforting.

“I’d like to start off and say that I have always loved you and the fact that I couldn’t see you meant nothing, but I’d more importantly like to say sorry I never wanted this life for you and now you can’t escape it.”

“Wait who you are.”

“Well I’m Poseidon, but you can call me Dad.”
