“WAIT so you just sat under the waterfall…KISSING?!” Elle screams with excitement while twirling her hair and rocking back and forth on her heels.

“Shhhhhh! I don’t want Natalie to hear okay?!” I say quietly while blushing. I can’t help but reach my hand up to my lips and feel where he kissed me. It’s been two days since then and I haven’t seen him since. He wants to meet for rehearsal today after my morning class. Elle and I are sitting in my dorm before class starts.

“Okay seriously Kay? Why would Natalie care? She dates a different boy every week.” She says rolling her eyes. Speaking of the devil I hear the door open and Natalie walks in making out with a boy who looks a bit familiar. They don’t pay any attention to us and move their way towards the bed. Suddenly Elle darts out of my dorm and into her own. I look at the time on my phone and realize we only have ten minutes until class starts. I grab my stuff and make my way down to studio two.

Studio two is the biggest and most beautiful out of all the studios. It has shiny wooden floors decorated with a beautiful, ornate tile in the center of the room. The whole entire room is lined with mirrors, so you can always see yourself. Somehow, when all the other studios smell like sweat this one smells nice. Almost like no one has ever danced in it. It looks like something out of a movie shot in Paris.

I set my stuff down in the corner of the room and start warming up at the barre. Several other people are already here tying pointe shoes and stretching. In the corner I spot one of my friends, Lena. We met the first week on the bus ride to ABT. She sat in the seat behind me and looked a little lonely. I started to talk to her and we quickly became friends. She told me about her life in Malibu. She said that there are amazing beaches and hot guys. I figured she was from California because of her long blonde wavy hair and tan.

“Hey!” She says, her blue eyes sparkling.

“Hey. Have you seen Elle today?” I ask. I’m starting to get worried because she’s never late for class. It makes me wonder what she’s doing in the dorm.

“No. What’s wrong?” She asks with a hinge of worry in her eyes.

“I can’t find her.” I say, my stomach turning. Why did she just dart out of my room like that? Maybe she was sick? I try to convince myself of many reasons why she’s not here and try not to think of the worst. I also realized that Dylan wasn’t here. I wonder what’s happening! I make my way back to my spot at the barre and try to clear my head by stretching.

While I’m stretching I see Luke on the other barre. I wave to him while giving a warm smile. Seeing him gives me butterflies and makes me feel tingly. I get even more nervous when he starts to walk over here. Why am I so nervous? I mean come on I kissed the guy, so why am I so nervous to even talk to him.

“Hey. Are we still on for rehearsal today?” he asks with worry in his eyes while grabbing my hand.

“Yeah of course.” I say quietly while blushing. His eyes look relieved.

“Well I’m gonna go stretch.” He says. He drops my hand and trots back to his spot at the barre.

After about five minutes of stretching my teacher Mrs. Tina walks in. She’s my favorite teacher because she always spends extra time with me. After class she always tells me what I need to work on so I can become better. She turns on the music and waits for us to start dancing. All of us start moving in unison to the beat of the music. We bend our knees, or plié to get warmed up. After the slow and relaxing combination we balance on relevé. Suddenly I feel someone’s hands touch my back and forcefully push me over. My body makes a thud as I hit the hard vinyl floor. I hear snickers behind me as I struggle to get back up before Mrs. Tina turns around. Unfortunately I fail to get off the floor in time and Mrs. Tina’s face lights up with anger.

“What are you doing on the floor, Kayla!” She screams at the top of her lungs.

                “I..I was..push-“

“THAT’S ENOUGH! GET OUT!” She yells, her loud voice echoing the studio. I burst into tears and run out of the class room not looking back to see who it was that pushed me. I don’t even care who pushed me, I’m just so embarrassed at what just happened. I can’t believe Mrs. Tina thought I was fooling around! I mean really? Why would I want to fool around? I’m not that kind of kid!

By now my mascara is probably smeared across my face, but I don’t care. I run all the way to my dorm room and barge in the door only to find Natalie making out with the nameless guy with only a bra and shorts on. Natalie looks back at me and chuckles.

“Go wash your face!” She snickers. I’m used to all of her rude comments, so instead I focus on the guy she’s with. He’s preoccupied kissing Natalie’s neck. For some reason he seems different than all of the other boys she brings to the dorm. He seems like he really likes her for her, not for her sex. “WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT?” Natalie screams. Startled, the nameless boy looks up. Suddenly I recognize exactly who it is…Dylan.
