“What are you doing here?” Lena scoffs with a tint of panic in her eyes.

“The real question is what are you doing here?” I retort while trying to roll my eyes. I never really could roll my eyes. When I try it just looks like I’m having a seizure.

“Uhum what was that? Do I need to call a doctor?” Dylan snorts while laughing at my pathetic eye roll. Lena joins him with giggles.

“Guys come on. What’s the issue?” Luke asks trying to reason with everyone.

“The problem is that Lena is here with that scumbag over there. You totally violated girl code Lena.” I say firmly while crossing my arms and shifting my weight to one leg.

“Can someone tell me what’s going on?” Luke mumbles in a confused tone.

“Okay, Elle likes Dylan. Lena and I both knew that and now Lena is here with…DYLAN!” I scream losing my temper.

“Look who’s broke the girl code now?” Lena snorts with arrogance. Oh my gosh. I just told Dylan that Elle likes her! Realizing there’s not much else I can do I just sit there biting my lip trying to think of what to say. Finally I mutter a pathetic “Shut up.” While blowing the hair out of my face. Luke tries to comfort me by grabbing my hand and interlocking his fingers around mine. At this point nothing can make me feel better about what just happens. There’s a moment of silence as we all just stand there. I flutter my eyelashes and look up to Dylan. I’m surprised to see that he’s not laughing at the fact that Elle likes him. His eyebrows are furrowed and his face looks like he’s thinking hard. The silence is broken when Dylan suddenly asks

“Where’s Elle?” while running his hands through his dark brown hair.

“I don’t know. Why?” I say with an attitude. He doesn’t respond to me at all and just stands there for a few seconds before trotting away from the three of us. Lena lets out a huge groan as her date leaves her stranded in central park with no way to get home.

“Kayla! I know your leg can go higher. And turn out your standing foot while you’re at it!” My teacher scowls at me. MY eyes fill with tears of pain as I try to lift my leg as high as it can possible go. Finally sixteen counts pass by and I let my leg hit the floor with a thud. I get various stares from around the room as everyone lets their leg down with resistance and finishes nicely at the barre. After adagio which is pretty much everyone’s lest favorite exercise because it involves lifting your leg to your head, we all go to the center. I find my spot on the floor and slide into my right split. Now, I’ve become so flexible that I don’t even feel a stretch in my splits. I arch my back and pull my back leg all the way up to my head to stretch my quads and lower back. It feels nice to be stretched out.

After five minutes the teacher instructs us all to get up and gives us a hard jumping combination. I pick it up rather quickly, because it’s not too difficult just fast…really fast. The music starts and immediately I miss the preparation. During preparation, there is usually three counts for you to move your arms into position, in this case high fifth position. Because I missed the preparation, I’m already behind all of the other dancers. I struggle to catch up and end up looking like an idiot. I fail to do the any of the right steps and once the music ends I get lots of stares.

“Miss Kayla” my ballet professor repeats while lowering her glasses to the tip of her nose and giving me a stern stare. “What happened there?” She says crossing her arms. My face turns a pale shade of white as I realize what’s going to happen next. “I’m going to play the music…AND YOU WILL DO IT BY YOURSELF!” her loud voice echoes in the beautiful marble studio. I quiver as she walks over to the stereo and all of the other students move away. I come to the very center of the stage and prepare myself. I can do this, right? Just pretend you’re on stage. It’s no big deal. I put my best smile on and try to look as elegant as I possibly can. The music starts and I nail the preparation on time. I start jumping as high as I possibly can and I feel like I’m flying. I move through a series of glissades which is when you glide from one foot to the other. I get lost in the music and imagine myself center stage at Lincoln Center. Suddenly, the big ending is coming. We do a tombe pas de bourre (I know you don’t know what that means, but pretend like you do.) Followed by a glissade and then my legs erupt into a giant leap that must be five feet in the air. The music ends with the beating of dramatic drums and the clash of symbols. I land out of the leap gracefully and finish in fifth position. The music ends with one last giant drum beat and I stand there knowing I just nailed the whole combination. My heart is leaping out of my chest and I can tell my breathing won’t slow for a very long time. The whole class erupts in applause and I can’t stop smiling.

The professor walks to the center of the room and says “Very, well. Next we will pirouette.”

Okay this was more of a filler chapter. I tried to get some ballet action in this chapter as well, because I think the book needs more of that. A few exciting things to talk about.

1) New cover! Someone actually made this cover for me and sent it to me! I love it very much. I'm still trying to search for the perfect cover and don't know when I'll find it. Still looking.

2) I decided to put a cast list on the side. However, ONLY some characters will be on it. The characters without major rolls will be on the side. I've spent so much time trying to find people that look exactly how the character in the book does and it's hard. Even the people on the side now are not exactly how the character is supposed to look. I wanted you to have an idea on how the characters I imagined look. Even then, there are still minor differences than the celebrity I have compared the character to. I will not be putting Kayla and Luke up there, because I want you to imagine them how you want them to look. After all that's what reading is right?

3) 256 reads!! My original goal as 220 reads (I think) by my birthday which is in May. It's March and I've already exceeded my goal! I'm so excited and thank you all so much for reading!

4) I know you don't know what all of this ballet talk is. It's in French and unless you're a dancer you wouldn't know. If you're really interested on what Kayla is doing, occasionally I will have links that explain some ballet steps. I will also have definitions and things to help you understand, Check them out if you want.  http://www.balletdancersguide.com/ballet-jumps.html

Adage, Adagio (a-DAHZH) At ease or at leisure.

Adage is incorporated into ballet classes and most classical pas de deux combinations.

It is a series of slow, graceful exercises during the centre practice which is generally focused on line, balance and fluidity. It takes lots of practice to gain the stability and control whilst still having a sense of fluid movement

Allégro ([a-lay-GROH) Bright and brisk movements. This ballet term is associated to all jumps in ballet. So, whether it is petite allégro, or grand allégro a dancer will aim to show a sense of ballon and spring in the elevation

5) I need suggestions and comments. If you don't like all of the ballet in the story tell me, I want to write some of what you guys want to read. Let me know if you think the plot is boring, it needs more romance, or ballet or whatever your concerns are! I'd be happy to take them into consideration.

6) On the side is a picture of the studio Kayla was dancing in today!

7) I love you all! Thanks so much for reading!
