Chapter 10

I woke up and turned to see a sleeping Alex next to me. He looked so... peaceful. He slowly opened his eyes and blinked a few times before fully opening them. "Good morning beautiful..." He smiled as he saw me looking at him.

I felt so bad. I couldn't let him get hurt because of me... I can't let him come along with me. "I was thinking of leaving tomorrow." I told him, sitting up on the bed."So can I mark you today?" He asked. I will do as I promised him before Ieave. It's the one thing I can do for him. I nodded my head and smiled at him. He pulled me into a hug and kissed my cheek.

He snuggled his nose into my neck and started kissing me at where my neck and shoulder met. I suddenly felt something sharp prick my skin a little before pain rushed through me. My body felt like it was on fire before it turned into pleasure. Alex pulled away from my neck and smiled at me before giving me a peck.

"Let's go down for breakfast!" He said, dragging me out of bed with him. I tripped over the blanket which had fallen onto the floor and almost fell face-first into the ground when Alex caught me. "Careful!" He said, helping me up. "Well it's your fault!" I complained. "You were the one who dragged me and caused me to fall!"

"I'm sorry babe..." He said and kissed my cheeks before I was swept off my feet and into his arms. "What are you doing?! Put me down!" I shrieked. "I'm just taking precautions. I don't want you to fall again now do I?"

He carried me down to the kitchen and I blushed when I saw everyone there eating. They suddenly turned their head to look at us. "Luna." They greeted. I rolled out of Alex's arms when he wasn't paying attention and landed on my feet with him cursing out "OH MY FUCK!" I smacked his arm when he said that. "There are kids here! Watch your language!" I scolded and some of the pack members giggled and laughed.

He got me a plate of pancakes, hashbrown, and a cup of soya bean milk which I have been craving lately. I gobbled everything down and spent the day lazing around, watching movies, waiting for the night to come.

"Come on babe... Let's go to bed." Alex said as it was already 10 in the night. He dragged me up the stairs to his bedroom. I had a bag packed and ready to go which I had hid under the bed earlier today.

I closed my eyes and steadied my breathing to make it seem like I was sleeping. I stayed still and relaxed in his arms to make it seem like I was really falling asleep. About half an hour later, I heard very soft snores coming from behind me, telling me that Alex was alseep. I decided to stay for another hour or two to be safe.

At 12.30a.m, I crept out of bed and Alex started feeling around the mattress. I quickly placed my pillow in his arms and he snuggled into it. I quietly dragged my bag out from under the bed and quickly pulled a hoodie and sweatpants over my shirt and shorts that I was wearing since it would be cold out. I sat down next to Alex.

"I'm sorry Alexander... I have to do this... to keep you safe... bye Alex..." I whispered and kissed his forehead. He had a smile on his face and I stood up, swinging my bag over my shoulder and sneaking out the door, looking back one last time at sleeping Alexander one last time.

I quietly closed the door, tiptoeing my way downstairs, not wanting anyone to find out. 'I need to do this alone. I cannot let anyone else get hurt because of me. This mission is too dangerous.' I chanted over and over in my head.

I went out through the back door since I knew that there were people out front, probably just patrolling the land. I walked out to the edge of the woods and stripped my clothes off, placing them in my bag before shifting so that I wouldn't rip them.

I grabbed the bag in my mouth and ran.

I just ran.

After about half an hour of running, I finally emerged from the forest and into the open. I didn't know that the forest was so big! How much was hidden from the humans! I looked back and aw trees, unlike what humans would have seen. Probably rows and rows of buildings and construction work to stop them from entering.

I went to the nearest building, walking quietly so that when I find the devourers, they wouldn't hear me and attack me. I sniffed the air and smelt no rotting flesh but just to be safe, I went up and looked around all floors, checking befre I ran all the way down to the first floor and pushed a few pieces of furniture to block up the door so they wouldn't be able to barge in.

I went back up to the third floor where I saw a coach earlier. I pulled a blanket I found atop a desk and brought it to the coach. I pulled it over my body as I laid down to sleep, resting my head on the armrest.

'Finally! I get some alone time with you!' A voice in my head spoke.

"What the shit!" I cursed out under my breath.

'Hi! I'm Alesha! I'm your wolf!'

"What...?"

'I'm you. Literally. And I'm currently in your head. Just think of what you want to say to me and imagine really speaking but in your mind.' She explained.

I tried what she asked me to do.

'Okay...?'

'Yea! See! You got it!'

'Yea... I think so...'

'Now let's get down to business.' She said seriously. 'Where is mate and why did you leave him!' She shouted in my mind and I winced in pain.

'He's back with the pack sleeping. I couldn't let him get hurt helping me! Or anyone for that matter! If he came with me and got hurt or killed I wouldn't be able to live with it!' I explained.

'But I miss mate...' She whimpered.

'I know... I do too. Don't worry. I'll get this done as quickly as I can then we can go back for him.'

'You better or I'm taking over and running back to him!' She threatened but I could hear the smile in her voice. I giggled and said goodnight to her before falling asleep.
