After school, I quickly packed my things, knowing my mum will make a huge fuss about me being late and I would have to sit through another lecture and in my house, which makes it even worse because the only place I want to listen to a lecture at is school.
Connor and I walked back home together since we stay only two houses away from each other. He dropped me off at my house before walking down to his own house. "I guess I'll 'see' you later." He said, chuckling. I pushed his shoulder and he stumbled back a little, still laughing. I pinned in the code to my house, covering the keypad like my mum told me to just in case someone else other than Connor was looking.
My mum took major security measures. We had a lockdown mode installed into our house. Same with Connor's. Our garage is filled with knives, daggers, swords, and a whole bunch of other weapons and canned food. The door was to be locked both on the inside and the outside because my mum said it was safer in the event of an 'emergency' but I don't get what kind of emergency actually needs weapons.
I walked in through the gates and locked it, Connor still standing outside. I waved goodbye to him and walked to the main door, unlocking it with the code my mum etched deep into my mind. 6392094839. This was a code impossible to crack. The keypad showed alphabets instead of numbers so to enter, type in the letters using their numerical order as a guide.
The moment I walked in, my mum grabbed me by my wrists. "Pack all your things. Hurry!" I dropped my school bag on the floor and ran up to my room. Taking a luggage out of my cupboard and emptied all my closet's contents into the luggage. I ran to the bathroom and grabbing all my daily necessities and them into my luggage too. I pulled open the drawers on my study table, taking all my dairies and stuffed them into another backpack. Well I couldn't let someone else read it now could I? I took the nicely framed photos by my bed and stuffed those into luggage too.
I zipped up the luggage, taking my favourite toy from my bed, a toy that Connor had given to me as a present, and threw it into my backpack before zipping it up and dragging my luggage down as fast as I could, my backpack continuously threatening to fall off my shoulders.
Finally, I made it down the flight of stairs. My mum took all my stuff and stuffed them into the trunk of the car as fast as she could. I picked up my schoolbag from the floor and slung it over my other shoulder before my mum came and pulled me by my wrist, throwing me into the car.
"Ouch!" She slammed the car door and ran over to the driver's seat, sliding into the car quickly, starting the engine as she slammed her door close.
"Mom! Would you please tell me where in the world are we going and why are you so panicked?" I literally screamed at her. She was scaring me. This wasn't my mother. My mum was a cool-headed woman who never panicked. This was a total stranger... Never have I seen my mother like this before. Ever. "We're going to Camp Christos." She said simply and I understood everything.
The scientists were playing with genetics. My mum never took part in any of that. All she did was research on human genes. Nothing more... Those scientists came up with a cloning machines, thinking we could satisfy demand for food with it, thinking that the more animals they could clone, the more animals there are that can reproduce, more meat.
They got it dead wrong. There was something wrong with the cloning machine. Something that cross-bred the bacteria. That single bacteria cell developed and multiplied. With each animal they cloned, the number of bacteria increases with them, causing the first few cloned to start dying.
The scientists went back to research on the cloned ones. All they found was that cross-bred bacteria and all they knew was that it would kill all plants and animals, and that it was spreading. They created it. Now they had no way of curing it.
